You should add more calculus equations to the sheet and then write some obscure questions on there, like thoughts you've jotted down.

    Cool stuff though, nice work.

I know! Notice the "Soh Cah Toa" parts? hehehe I actually had a pile of prints and trig calculations from the 4 styles of gears I made in the past, and happened to have them there as I had to pull them out along with any fixturing I had in the box next to them.

Hey Steve, did you have the 10th grader next door do the trig stuff to make it look better?

Nice work! Will the aluminum be able to stand up to the wear? Seriously asking.

The yellow papers were the new figuring thang... so yeah, I had to refresh my trig the oldschool way. Thanx! Bastages...

The aluminum will hold up fine. Many 8v, neon 16v conversion and T-III cars out there with my old adjustable gears I made years back.

Very nice. Should eliminate some weight and possibly allow quicker and higher RPMs.

My old gears are around 50 grams lighter... but I made these .340" thick at the bolt hole diameter areas vs. the old .240" and reinforced the diamter of the hub on the backside by about .200" So, they probably weigh around the same as stock. I was going to look into making them out of aluminum to cut down the weight considerably.... but $ was a factor in material and labor.

SMP's looked just like these that I made, except for 6 bolts vs. 2. I didn't want Stephane's cams to retard at 9k rpms on national tv and take all the blame. So, I am sure those weighed a bit more than stock and were a-ok at 1,000 hp.

I thought they were made out of aluminum. WOw, they are so shiny i thought they had been carved from it.
As for Stephane's car comment, neither would I!!!! I like the idea of six bolts to keep it in time.

Do you use an arbor press to cut the keyways?

would the intake cam gear measurements work for the 8v? Nice on the trig, I never had any trig classes but If I sat there long enough I could probably figure it out. Currently If I need to figure out bolt holes or anything like that I use my machinists handbook.

It's actually a hydraulic press we use for pressing off old pistons... takes a while vs. the manual arbor press method.

I have pix for those who just want to know how it's done, or are interested. I am uber-busy again tonight... but may be able to post them or tomorrow.

Not really. I have the #s someplace but are all hap-hazzardly tossed into the bunch... (in the papers you see probably)

Trig really isn't that hard to do at all. Just remember soh cah toa With basic trig, you can figure out almost anything that probably should be done with other more proper math methods. On the old cnc I used to use, I had to plot out all the x's and y's for cutter comps, too....
