WTB: Mint or NOS A555 shift knob

Vintage parts has 50+ for $35/each
Arizona parts has 3 used ones for $18/each

If they can be had brand new for that cheap, why in the world have people paid $1xx + on eBay in years past? I found another site with them for supposedly $27.39 if that part number is correct. Thanks for the info man I'll be looking into it.

Is it specific to the P body?

Here's why I ask..... I was going to add a different shift knob to my shadow and used a daytona knob as a thread pitch/size guide. I found the car's shifter threads were not the same.

Well I plan on using a Daytona shifter (little bit shorter) so I'll have to compare the tops of the G body and P body shifter then to see if there is a difference in the thread patterns between the two. I was always under the impression that the knobs were the same.

You probably had a knob off an early cable shifted 525. They look almost the same but as you mentioned they have a different thread pitch, and the insert with the gear shift pattern is also different. I bought a NOS knob and insert at the dealership about four years ago.

So that part # that was given, is it for 555 or 525 or what? lol..

P/n was pulled from the 89 catalog, 520/555 shifter assembly G, P body ect

the earlier knobs are shaped a little differently as well. i also believe they are slightly taller
