    LED replacement headlights

I upgraded the foglights on my SRT-4 to PIAA housings. I kinda regret I did, because even tho the light output is outstanding, I have to replace the bulbs pretty frequently. So I was searching around for a long-lasting H3 bulb and came upon this site, offering not only H3's but 9000-series LED replacement lamps as well

The only recommend them for fog or daytime running light duty.
Think there is any reason the 9000 series bulbs can't be used for headlights? Perhaps the light output would not be as bright as a 55watt conventional bulb?

I'm not sure how the body computer is set up in srt-4 but it may think the headlights is shot due to a different current draw ??? Not sure just a thought

As I have it set up right now, the foglights fed via an add-on relay, which is switched via an OE foglight wire. I don't think the car would know the difference.

    Re: LED replacement headlights

Look on ebay, I'm interested in trying them also

The ones on that site are 18 led's. "SMD" is what your looking for, or there are some others normally labeled as 3watt or 4watt(for other bulbs), not sure how/if they make those for headlights yet or not.

Anyway the ebay ones have a ton more then 18smd led's

    Actually 68smd led's:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-x-C...Q5fAccessories

The 18 LED ones are shown on superbrightled dot com, they show a pic of tailights where they are commonly used and its a brighter then a stock tailight bulb which is like 26-27 watts.

So that 68 led array may work

I just got led's all around for my 03 Stratus Coupe, except headlights

Also dont be afraid to buy LED's from China/hong kong as they are ALL made there, just distributed where ever. Basically all the same

Heck for $4, I'm going to try 1 and see

According this page, the H3 puts out 1310 +/- 195 lumens.

    http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...logenProducts/

This page shows output for the 3528 smd LED to 6-7 lumens.

    http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/25...white_LED.html

So you would need 187 leds to get the lumens of an H3.

I bought some 1156 bulbs for my reverse lights, I can't see backing up due to my tinted windows, found a dealer on Ebay, USA guy, half the price of super LED company Aries_turbo posted, 600 lumen, 30 led's and damn, they are friggin bright. Also bought the 194 bulbs, 5 leds and they are also bright too, and I bought the festoon bulbs for my interior, 12 led's I believe and now I can see when I turn the interior lights on,

    Re: LED replacement headlights

I'm curious too, I would love it if they are up to snuff, but I am leery the ability of LEDs to replace halogen, etc and not be a downgrade in the light output department... I'm a little excited about the whole LED light idea, I think it makes a hellofa lot more sense than the CFLs being pushed upon us.

I've tried those LED lights for my fog lights and the ones I got weren't bright at all. Don't know if they improved them since.

    Re: LED replacement headlights

Mike, I know this is an old post, but if you are still dealing with some issues I have a suggestion.
    Try looking here:
    www.ddmtuning.com
I've purchase several HID kits from them and have been very pleased. I have them on my Aprilia, and on my PT GT for both headlight and foglights.

I've purchased a dual kit 9004 for use on Mean Mini.
Their prices a super reasonable and they ship quick, and are very easy to install.

On the GT I went with 6000k headlights and 3500k fogs. The Headlights are slightly bueish and the fogs are a piercing yellow. I would actually recommend the 5000k headlights which appear less blueish and more white.
I went with 5000k for Mini.

Let me know if you want pics. Oh, and stick with a 35W kit. They are like 3x brighter than regular bulbs. 55W's would be blinding!
