    which E-brake shoe wears faster?

just curious what E brake shoe wears faster?? is it the front or the rear??

got a set of shoes but have 2 new and 2 very slightly used so I would prefer to put the slightly used ones on the side that will wear slower...

the only time i really use it is too keep the car from rolling, but mainly for the burnout at the track....and obviously if the brakes happen to fail (which id rather not want to think about)

Theoritically, they both wear the same, they put the larger one on the rear as it takes the most force, but this is regular drum brakes, so I would put the worn ones up front.

There are 2 parking brake shoes on each side just like drum brakes, a front shoe and a rear shoe.

lol, yep goin oldschool....all wheel drum!!! hehe...NOT lol

yeah simon, i did notice that the shoes that are slightly worn happen to have a little bit more pad. I thought maybe it was diff manufacturer from the other shoes but from sounds of things they are actually the rear shoes

so its not going to really matter if I put them up front? just need 2 get the spring kit 2day

anyone got part # by any chance??? i hate going to crappy tire and ordering rear disc brake stuff for these cars as it usually turns into an argument and am told they never had rear discs on a dodge shadow lol

solid rear disks....spring kit for the iroc daytonas the same???

Maybe being an old man is good for me?

The reason disc brakes are better is that they don't grab. The larger shoe goes to the location that does not tend to grab. It's just like putting big brakes on the front of cars.

Ma Mopar in the mid 50's introduced dual wheel cylinders to stop the lock up tendency of drum brakes. Unfortunately they mounted one at the top and one at the bottom. This was great except that the moisture in the system wound up in the lower brake cylinder and rusted them.

THEREFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you reverse the shoes, the E brake will stop better when going backwards.

Yeah, I'm full of it this morning.
