sealing steel plug in aluminum case

i got a leak thats pissing me off i can get it to seal with rtv till it goes through a heat cycle

i think the problem is that the aluminum is moving to much from the heat and the steel isnt so it just sorta pops the rtv off

im thinking of 3 solutions yamabond the right stuff or hylomar

all three arent meant for a threaded plug and i think the only reason yamabond works so great for sealing cases is becuase the case halves expand at the same rate

the plug has a shoulder on it that the brass washer sits on but its not cutting it i tried thread sealant rtv teflon tape and probobly something else im getting ready to jb weld the ----ers shut and just spend 15 bucks to drain the trans

What's this for? Isn't the washer touching the sealing surface, if so, why not? Liquid thread sealer should do the job.

its for an air cooled bike motor one time i even filed the seal surface because i noticedthe first thread was forming a bur so i filed it flat and used a crush gasket from an auto parts store AND black rtv all at the same time

its common the cases crack what kinda dye can i use to see the crack?

You can buy tracer dye, then you need a UV light.

I'd try the red pipe dope they use on natural gas lines.

It's not uncommon for hardware stores to have threaded brass rod in 1/2" 13tpi.
