How do I keep my idle from dropping?

    SBEC TBI 2.2

Car runs great, only problem I'm having is when cruising 35+ mph and I come to a stop. The idle dips, then pics back up. During this dip, my voltage drops - alt RPMs dropping too much. This is bad on my stereo system.

I am currently turning down the stereo when coming to a stop from the highway, for instance.

Is there an idle adjustment screw on the TBI that would allow me to set the minimum idle?

Change out the speed sensor at the transmission, that should do it.

check your codes before you go changing out sensors. If your moving along at say 10 mph if you drop the trans into neutral, will it idle at like 1000 rpm or more like 1500+ rpm? if 1500rpm, your SDS is fine, otherwise its not

No codes. No tach. Five Speed.

If I'm travelling 45 mph and coming up on a light. I push the clutch in or put it in neutral to coast to the stop. The idle sounds correct and the voltage gauge (factory) remains at charging level. As I drop below 10 mph, this is when the idle drops. Come to a stop and the idle really drops low, engine bucks just a bit, volt gauge drops to battery voltage, then the car picks back up to normal idle and the volt gauge comes back up.

I suppose I could try a different SDS.

If you can figure it out let me know... Similar problem mine has had forever, did all the usual stuff and it still idles like crap. Only thing I havnt done (dont have one) is to hook up a scanner and see what the computer is seeing. Garbage in = garbage out but where the source of the faulted data IDK.

I would try the speed sensor even without the code. Also try resetting your AIS idle, its in the how to section.
