That's a steal!
Larry, I think the majority of people here don't know who you are since you've ABANDONDED us a long time ago
BTW: I tried emailing you last week, but it was sent back. What's your email these days? You can PM me if you wish. I have several of your R&D Q's about your R/T (I'm finally building my '92 IROC R/T)
What's the max whp you dynoed at on your 50trim? (not super 50) I have a 50trim T3/T4 .63 ar S3.

I think with that same turbo (50 trim/Stage 3/0.63) and the wastegate held shut, it was about 390-395 whp on a Dynojet. The boost would spike way up and then drop down to middle 20's and just stay there. It was an ugly curve! What's the max whp you dynoed at on your 50trim? With that turbo run a bit more reasonably I recall a consistent 360-365 whp on the same Dynojet. It was a very good setup on the street.
Ill try and dig through any old files I can find.............
I just found this old plot, which shows the 50 trim turbo as the red line (368 whp). I found a datalog from the OTC scanner for this setup for a track run and saw the following----
1st gear average boost 18.0
2nd gear average boost 22.6
3rd gear average boost 23.4
4th gear average boost 23.5
EGT: 1779
1/4: 12.3
1/4MPH: 117
hey Larry, long time, no see.
i like the green line with the alky burble before the insane power hehe. Bup, Bup, BWAAAAAAAAAA.
Brian
Really surprised the 50 trim didn't make 400 whp,

Perhaps on some dynos it might, especially if the air was colder. It wasnt shy of 400 whp by much. My dynos were all typically completed in higher than average temps so that dropped the numbers some. Ill have to dig harder to find that maxxed out 50 trim dyno plot. I do recall it was an ugly curve and that no matter what I did the turbo just would not hold boost higher than middle 20's once the revs got up.
Yes...thats what the jagged green line was! I recall being overly cautious and making sure the alky was way overloaded. I actually dialed that out in later runs, but it was of little practical importance as in normal situations one wouldnt lug that car in 3rd/4th gear at 2000 rpm and go WOT.
Plus, if I remember right, having that alky overload down load actually made the turbo "jump" once it fought through the burble, and boost actually came up more quickly than without the alky overload.
Hey Larry....
Isn't that R/T you have right now your father's? I think I remember you telling me you still had his to toy around with if the urge ever hit you again.
So.... got any plans for this one?
