This is why and I really don't want this to happen again. HUGE PITA!

Damn! Both the U-joint and the CV!? Reminds me of the damage tire shake can cause! Was this with slicks?

Is there any other game in town other than DSS? I know others have the dynasty shafts shortened, but I don't think you can just call someone and have those ordered.
Dss or just find a decent long shaft from the wreckers, look for the tripot inner or large round joint with no metal tin. I think you can run car ones in the L body as they are an inch longer. I think Puppet or tryingbe uses non l body axles.

You should really upgrade to a 525. Those thicker intermediates just aren't cutting it. I can testify that my 2 525 have held up over the years and are still serving me well.

Have ya tried unequal length axles? They seem to be more durable.

Well thats good at least!
How heavy and estimated HP? Looks like the U-joint was the major issue. If its a light enough car a stock long shaft might be OK? I would try to find a used stocker vs. parts store tho...

equal length setup SUCKS. its just more stuff to break. and you are trying to convert power from the diff, to the intershaft, then the outer shaft...then the wheel hub...then tire.....as the list goes on the weaker things get.
2500 pound car with stock axles here. havent had a problem yet and have had 1.71-1.72 60' times....launching @ 7K lol
It's in a gutted (except for the cage) 4-door L-body. Not sure about HP yet. I just built the motor this past winter. It's a TII 2.5. stock Garret w/ported G-head. A568 trans with a 6 puck TU yellow plate and aluminum flywheel and as mentioned before a 4500rpm staging mod.
That was a brand new U-joint too. Now I kinda wish I would have left the old rusty original piece in there...
Well to be honest when I laid out my plans for building this car I wanted it to be an "all around" type of build. I Road Race, Auto-X as well as drag race this car. Since I do occasionally Road Race and Auto-X I wanted to have a balanced driveline so I went with the equal length stuff. I just wish that it would have held up better. Believe it or not all of that scrap metal in the first pic was all brand new stuff except for the intermediate shaft of course...
