Take out the Mobil 1 and either use Synchromesh, Redline MTL or the factory fill of Dino 5 or 10w30, I can't remember, lol.

Regular 5w30 is what is recommended. If you changed the oil and it started grinding, I would change it back.

    Re: 568-grinding into third.

Ive always heard that the factory fill was mobil 1.

Dont want to get into a big oil debate but what about the ZDDP content of new oils? Definitely something that you would want in a transmission since newer oil isn't meant for high pressure gear to gear contact.

All the Shebly cars did come filled with Mobil 1 to my knowledge. In the engine that is, not the trans.

That's the truth. I have had by far the best results with Redline MTL and Synchromesh.

    Re: 568-grinding into third.

older 5 spds came with AUTO trans fluid from the factory....at least i know the 525 did.....or it was not until 88 or 89 in which they discovered that reg fluid was the way to go

ive run reg 5w30 as well as redline. you might not like redline if you drive the car in the winter. it makes for a really STIFF shifter until that trans starts to heat up that thick ars oil

    Re: 568-grinding into third.

I am hoping to not have to run this car in the winter anymore but might have to. Its already a really stiff shifter with the sts and booger bushings. I just want my spirit r/t to stop grinding into 3rd before i hurt it. I think i might just go with the redline that way it's oil not auto fluid.
