Do it. You going to cage it? I might be able to help with that.

Not sure if it will get a cage in it... more like a track day car than a wheel-to-wheel car

Re: BadAss 87 CSX #751 Clone - Farewell Tour!?

Runs from this past weekend's Mopar Nats PRO class. Had the Z's 24.5x8.5" M&H's and skinnies on it.. The slicks are a tad tall for it and I never actually got them to spin. The air quality pretty much sucked all weekend, HOT and HUMID, baaad turbo air. But the car still ran OK. ...and any trip to the track the car can drive on and off the trailer is a win

Run #1 (Friday) - Right off the trailer, 5000k RPM launch, bogged.....

    R/T: .134
    60': 2.502
    330': 6.157
    1/8ET: 9.172
    1/8mph: 82.22
    1000'ET: 11.758
    1/4ET: 13.974
    1/4mph: 101.75

Run #2 (Friday) - Left harder, closer to 6000 RPM... hook, no spin, slight bog - BooYaa, my consistent 13.0X car Just need to work on the R/T now

    R/T: .342
    60': 1.931
    330': 5.415
    1/8ET: 8.344
    1/8mph: 84.26
    1000'ET: 10.873
    1/4ET: 13.047
    1/4mph: 104.34

Run #3 (Saturday) - Right off the trailer... concentrating too much on the tree trying to get a good light, didnt leave hard enough and bogged... but got a decent light

    R/T: .007
    60': 2.021
    330': 5.583
    1/8ET: 8.546
    1/8mph: 84.03
    1000'ET: 11.109
    1/4ET: 13.296
    1/4mph: 103.93

Run #4 - (Sunday time run) Right off the trailer, trying for another good light... Oooops and bogged it worse on a freshly prepped track

    R/T: -.102
    60': 2.238
    330': 5.919
    1/8ET: 8.893
    1/8mph: 83.82
    1000'ET: 11.457
    1/4ET: 13.651
    1/4mph: 103.44

Run #5 - (Sunday - Round 1) So with all of the above, what do you dial? 13.30 hoping to have a good light and not bog and have the luxury of driving to win... yeah, didnt happen...

    ME_________HIM
    13.30__DIAL__12.75
.100__R/T__.032 <== this .0716 difference is where I lost the race... but I gave him a run for it anyways
    1.976__60'__1.826 (Didnt bog too much...)
    5.484__330'__5.225
    8.444__1/8ET__8.084
    83.37__1/8mph__85.34
    11.010__1000'ET__10.587 (I short shifted 4th)
13.202__1/4ET__12.723 (Double breakout! side by side thru the lights, I lifted ever so slightly, but should have stuffed the brakes, LOL!)
    102.88__1/4mph__104.17

I BARELY crossed the line first, by a mere .0036! BUT he broke out by less so I lost. Guess I need to practice bracket racing more.

Re: BadAss 87 CSX #751 Clone - Farewell Tour!?

Took some pics when the head was off...

History - Got this 2.2L in a SL in 1998... pulle din 99, dropped it into the Shadow in 01. Had a FelPro HG on it that blew between cylinders in 2004 at the 2004 Mopar Nats.. replaced (slip-n-slide) w MP 006 HG... was running a little warm (not hot) on the highway and had lived through all my abuse...

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago... I didnt want to have to replace it at this years Nats so I put another HG on it a couple weeks ago. So firs ttime looking at eth head... eeeew thats dirty, let me scrape it clean with a razor blade... anything wrong here? ... well it had been running good so I slapped it back on with a thick coat of Permatex "Head Gasket in a can"

Little leakage between cylinders, eh? Deck that thing and your consistent 13.0's become 12.7's!

The whole thing shouldn't work for various reasons, but it does. Just leave it alone and drive it until something really important falls off or explodes. Then move on to the next one in your collection.

Bringing the thread back... Raced it a few times since. Seems after the HG in the end of 2010 and through 2011 it was a consistant 12.90 car. Have contemplated taking the A555/350 gear OBX out and putting it in the Z it shifts so well, LOL!

Right now it sits... and I really dont have time to do much to it to help it out.... and it needs some help on the DS floor panel

I didn't renew the plates this year and need to make the decision to fix/part/sell it.

Fix it - need time and space

Part it - Have another twin 58k mile 87 ES and a couple 87 CSX project cars that could benefit

Sell it - Not sure if anyone would want to give me what I have into it in its current condition?

Got some nice parts on it... Koni's, MP Auto XSprings, A555/350 hybrid with OBX, custom one-off Clutchnet clutch, Motegi wheels, complete longblock out of a Shelby Lancer including 2-pc intake, minus "Shelby" valvecover (put a 1-pc gasket one on LOL), 52mm t-body, Magnecor 10mm, Powerstack air filter, rad/intercooler out of my Shelby Z, Autometer Boost Gauge, Halmeter AF30 NB A/F, etc. etc... PLUS, super 12-second timeslip CRACKED HEAD! Oh, and it has some rattle when cold, but once the 10w40 warms up it quiets down... I've had it together since 2001 and have put quite a few miles on it (changed gauge clusters so would have to do math to know exact) but the whole time it has run on nothing lower than 100 octane ... BadAssPerformance "Boostoid" Boost controller (Grainger LOL) will make solid 19psi in the 1/4 mile, and I have seen 27psi in 5th on the highway... pulling like a freight train.. Oh, that reminds me... CSX Stage II LM and MiniMopar took the boost cutout out of it (thanks again!) It also has DSS L5 Axles in it, but I kinda need those for the Z right now, LOL!

Damn... after writing this, I just wanna go drive it now....

Pics as it sits from Fall 2011:

Why not throw an asking price out there and see if you have any takers. That will probably help you to decide what you're going to do with it.

It's time consuming, but I'd say part it and use the parts for the elevenity-billion other ones that are in need of a resurrection.

Looks to me like where the ebrake cable goes through is the worst of it, it's starting, but not deep elsewhere by looking at the pics, you can drench it in WD-40 every couple of months and it will hold it up for years... in this neck of the woods it would be a "Hmm, not too bad"

I agree with dsc, I'd try to either part it or return it "to stock" and get a few bucks for the body. Don't know if it's worth it or not (time invested, etc.), but that's the exact decision I'm trying to make with my 89 spirit es.
