    Tbi a413

Is it worth anything ? I know its doesnt have the HD internals of a boosted application but can it be brought up to turbo spec ? I've got one sitting here and unless its useful for something like that I'm not keeping it.

I guess Simon is tired of responding to these so I'll step up this time: http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3180

Only one of those links are good.

Thanks A.J. BUT don't rule out that trans, it could have been replaced with a turbo model so unless you take it apart, you'll never know,

If its a tbi unit it is probably lockup and would be good for someone who wanted to build a lockup converter tranny.

Also, look in the phone book for a used trans parts business. Sell it to them.. they'll pay you enough to cover your gas and itll keep the parts alive.

That would be a spare case, front pump, the diff is the same, and as said, never know what's inside it.

I've found TBI transmissions in turbo cars, who knows....

Supposedly the minivan TBI trans are close to being turbo spec with a lockup, but never had one apart to check.

    Re: Tbi a413

Torn down. Appears to be a standard TBI unit going off of the clutch pack and front band lever. But I'm now having thoughts of going to the dark side and dropping it in to replace my sick A523.
    Attachment 25926

Got everything down to the bare case but theres two things left I'm not quite sure how to get them out.
    Attachment 25927

The intermediate/pinion gear shaft, is that snap ring the only thing holding it in place ?

    Attachment 25928

And whatever this thing is ? How does one go about removing it from the case ? FSM just mentions lots of special service tools...

    Re: Tbi a413

Ok on the snapring yes that is the only thing holding it in.

And on the last pic.. the outer part is the band, the inner part has a sprag on the other side of it, so it will only turn one direction. If you turn it that direction while pulling up it will come out, but when it does all your sprag elements (springs and rollers) are going to fall out, so keep track if you plan to reuse them.

Once you get it out you can get the band out. Simon i think has pics up somewhere of how to grind the case there a little bit so you can get the band in and out easier.

Ok, I thought it was attached to the steel portion thats pressed into the case. Speaking of the steel portion is it made to be removed ? I wanted to get the case dropped off monday for a dip in the hot tank but didnt want to leave that piece attached if its removable.

the inner race for the sprag should be left in IMO. Its removable but theres no point unless its messed up.
