New Tool... Think I'm in love... ;)

I just got a PowerProbe 3 tester. Think of it as the ultimate test light. First it comes with hookups for both alligator clips and cigarette lighters to supply power to it and it has an auxiliary ground at the tester so you don't have to search for a good ground... When you test circuits it displays polarity + or - as well as voltage. There is a toggle switch that allows you to connect the probe to positive or negative.

I just used it to hookup the 3rd brake light in my new camper shell top on my truck. It was sooooo easy...

Just wanted to let everybody else know it exists...

Ive been using the power probe for a while......I thought it was cool before it had the voltage read out.....now the new design is even slicker (if thats a word) . Its got to be one of the handiest electrical diag tools there is.

I have the Power Probe II. I love it. If it ever takes a s**t, gets lost/stolen, gets run over, I'm definitely going to update to the P.P. III. I'm going on my third switch in my P.P. II. That's the only week point of the tool. You use to have to send it in to get fixed, but they made the switch available. I just have to solder it in.

That looks pretty cool. When my multimeter finally dies I may look at one of those.

Seems like a pretty handy tool

They need to work on that commercial though...I kept thinking it was a spoof the whole time and I was like "where's the punch line?"

this tool is awsome, ive had mine for a year, and use it almost every day (or multiple times in a day), it will also test for continuity of a wire, it has the dual LED lights on the end of the unit by the probe, the switch is very easy to replace (i havent had to on mine yet, but it will just pop out), and has a replaceable tip.

i purchased mine in neon green so i wont lose it, but they also have blue, red, black, and camo? i also bought the upgraded kit (which i suggest) that has the piercing probes included, so that you dont pierce your finger when testing wires. it also came with the 50 ft trailer extension with it. only thing i wish is that it would test for is resistance, but it is stil a very verstial tool.

Re: New Tool... Think I'm in love... ;)

Just used it last night on Firebaron90's mini to test the reverse lights. It was dark so I fumbled hooking it up but once I did I had good light from the headlights on the probe

Turned the key on in the van and took the park/neutral/reverse light connector off. Quickly found 12v on the one side. I then tested the other side and saw I had a good circuit. For grins and giggles I had Joe go to the back of the van and I hit the power switch and low and behold the lights came on...

Diagnosis confirmed - Bad P/N/R switch... Wiring was OK.

Blue Alan? I would have thought you would have wanted Red... Or do you secretly want Bill's Rampage with it's TIII engine?
