    Re: Cometic Head Gasket Thickness

Thanks Warren, that's the one I was looking at, but I was curious measured a couple MP and Felpro gaskets and they were ~ 0.073" ???

Just curious, which head / block combo are you running with that gasket?

    I've got a '89 2.2L common block with JE's and a G-head...

The MP and felpro gaskets I measured were used ones. Good question does the Cometic crush?

I've been wondering if one wanted to raised the compression a little and increase the quench some could some of the layers be taken out and it still work?

They make a thinner one with only 3 layers.

The only part I've noticed crushing on any of the all metal gaskets are the compression rings.

I'd still like a gasket a little thinner than that. Around .040 to .045.

FWD has the MP gaskets (2005 / 2006) listed as .040 to .042 thick. I don't think that is right.
