compressor surge?

I know that even when my HKS unit was "working," I still got a little bit of compressor surge, especially at low boost levels (less than 5 psi). I get no compressor surge ever with the TiAL.

Maybe the newer (2nd and 3rd generation, non-adjustable) HKS SQVs just don't work well at lower boost levels.

So you have the older, adjustable HKS SQV? And you've tried adjusting the screw, and it still doesn't work? Then your BOV is probably broken and/or won't work with your current setup.

I thought he said that it still did it with a different valve in there? Was that a different thread?

yes, its the older one. and yes i've tried adjusting it. i put another hks on there that works fine on my dads charger, but does the same thing on my car.

So you have eliminated the BOV from the equation. Time to test something else. If it really sounds like you are getting surge have you looked into any possible restrictions in the charge air piping or intake? I'm about taped out of ideas on this one.

I just had them off for repainting and didn't see anything wrong with them.
