    Turbo Manifolds

Is there an affordable choice for turbo manifolds for the earlier 2.4 motors? There seem to be a lot of tube style headers for the SRT motors but I dont see many for the earlier 2.0/2.4 heads. Just doing a quick search on ebay I only came up with this log style turbo manifold:

Since the mexican manifolds are pretty hard to come by, are there any other options besides something custom?

    Re: Turbo Manifolds

You can use any of the upgrade manifolds designed for the SRT-4. The flanges are not identical, but they do work.

Forward Motion has a nice cast manifold with a flange for an external wastegate.

    Re: Turbo Manifolds

The problem I see with using these 420A headers and manifolds are that most of them are designed for DSM's which place the turbo on the front on the engine. The manifold will physically bolt to the rear of a Neon head, but the turbo placement and plumbing may be an issue.

    Re: Turbo Manifolds

I am running this manifold on my CSX. It places the turbo a little to close to the firewall though....but is a GT30R so its not a small turbo. I had to "massage" the firewall a bit to work. In hindsight, I would have rather used the cast manifold I think and perhaps sacrificed a little flow.

    Re: Turbo Manifolds

The ATP manifold with HY35 hit the firewall on my GLHS. It would probably have cleared on a non lbody and it was a very nice manifold. AGP also makes a nice cast exhaust manifold for the SRT4.

The SRT4 manifolds are regularly about $200 or slightly less on ebay. I ended up having one made from weld els because it was an lbody and I wanted to place the turbo in a specific spot but otherwise i would have just bought a cast one.

    Re: Turbo Manifolds

The ATP Manifold looks like it tilts the turbo back towards the firewall, with a flange angle similar to the 2.2/2.5 8v turbo manifolds. The AGP and Treadstone manifolds tilts the turbo a little farther up, so it looks like you would have more firewall clearance for a big turbocharger.

    Re: Turbo Manifolds

If I could weld I would probably look into just making myself a log style header. For $200, a cast manifold will probably work just fine for me. Anyone tried the OBX header? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-T...Q5fCarQ5fParts It certainly looks cool, but I worry the wastegate would hit the firewall with the angle it is at, especially in an L-body.

I think JT (BadAssPerformance) is using the OBX header on his Daytona. While the Gbody has more room than an L, he may be able to give you some insight as to how much room is down there.

Correctamundo... OBX shorty 2.4L header. I did have to rotate the motor forward to keep the T04B comp cover off the firewall tho.

Oh boy, if fitment is close in a G-body, I wonder how bad an L-body will be. Do you have any pictures that show clearances?

    Re: Turbo Manifolds

Thanks for the pictures. As sexy as the header looks, I may just stick with the cast manifold for ease.

You guys are lucky, your cams don't overhang the back of the head causing header fitment to be a pain, I have a few ideas before I give up for a winter project.

Well I picked up one of those manifolds. I really like where it sits the turbo on the engine, but there is a clearance problem with the P/S pump. The PT cruiser bracket moves the pump to the front but then the Alt moves to the back and will probably be in the way...

I'm going to put the engine in the car and see how it clears. I'm also going to spend a little time seeing if the pump can be moved. What's nice is that it's a remote reservoir so it should be easier to find a home for...

I'm keeping A/C and I need an Alt so... Is there a manual rack available for the P body?
