Turbo I to Turbo II conversion confusion

Donor car is 87 Lancer ES. I'm converting to turbo II electronics. I didn't think i'd need a new LM but now after more and more reading i'm completely confused. Do I need a tII LM? Or will my current LM work with the extra wires i'll be running?

    Thanks.

Read this, it is probably as close to step by step as you can get for what you want to do.

Ok, thanks for the link which is what started making me confused.....specifically this paragraph...

The part number on the 87 Daytona TII computer I have here ends with 171 (I also have one that ends with 077 but have not confirmed it's a TII computer yet) the 87 CSX computer p.n. ends with 079. You can also convert modules over to the calibrations you need if you know someone good with electronics and a prom burner,

Last sentence, "You can also convert modules over to the calibrations you need if you know someone good with electronics"

Which leads me to believe that the module IS wired for the 4 wire AIS already.

I am not worried about the calibration what I am worried about is the electronics to run the 4 wire AIS......

Ok, I think i'm reading it all correctly now, ONLY 87 TII LM will have the AIS circuitry I need.

I think that is correct you could probably rewire a T1 lm but it would be much easier to go withan 87 T2 lm

The pinouts are the same between 87 T1 and 87 T2 you just have to add 2 wires for the AIS motor and plug an 87 T2 module in.

    That is incorrect.

Some of the 86' LMs could run 87' electronics. I am unaware of how to tell them apart though.

All 87' LMs can be used to run TII electronics.

Only 87' TII LMs can be used to run an 87' TII setup without changing the calibration on the chip.

It is easy to take out the chip in an LM, so sourcing a cheap TI LM and putting a chip in there can be significantly cheaper than the alternative.

Sheesh, that figures. I already sourced an 87 TII LM and paid for it.

I suspected the electronics would be on the board but from the responses I got here was talked out of that line of thought.

Figures. Oh well, I got the 87 TII LM pretty cheap IMO.

Bright side is now i'll have 3 87 LM's so if I should up one, then another i'll still be covered.

The 87 TII Lm is the way to go, so you didn't waste your money. Save the other LM's for when you are ready to start running a custom cal!

Thanks but I will be running a custom cal right from the get-go. Maybe i'll just re-list the TII LM and someone who is doing a straight TII swap will want it.

My car will not have much stock when i'm ready to fire it up so custom cal is a must. I plan on having boostbutton whip up something to get me going, then i'll run it via ostrich and fine tune it from there, then burn it when i'm all done messing with things.
