    HP Predictions....

2.2, venolia pistons, .040 over, TII rods, 89 TBI cam, stock 87 lancer head, Big FMIC, stock turbo, home made meth injection, A413.

Of course this will all hinge on tuning but assuming I get the tune all ironed out, on pump gas at 25psi what do you figure i'll see for hp / tq? My goal is low 300's.

    Thanks.

225 whp, 280 ft/lbs of torque. No way 300 whp with a stock turbo and your setup, especially with an auto.

Depends on several things... is the stock turbo a mitsu or a garrett? how much boost do you plan to run? .. and how much meth?

Stock garret, gonna shoot for 25psi, and whatever meth it takes to keep detonation away.

Close, yes, but I think he's still a little high with that estimate. I could never get my stock garrett to hit over 21psi.

Be sure to keep an eye on that knock sensor reading.

    Re: HP Predictions....

I'd say more like 250-ish if tuned well. The front mount cooler *might* be better than stock since I have no idea what it is (ebay special?)

I've seen Gary's Daytona make 250 whp on 23 psi with everything stock, including the intercooler.

What size exhaust? I think with a full 3" exhaust and proper tune that 250-260 whp is definitely possible!

My completely stock 2.5L with stock manifolds, stock Mitsu turbo, and nothing but a 2.5" exhaust, stock IC/radiator and a chip made 190 whp and 232 ft/lbs at only 11 PSI so your setup should make considerably more at over 20 lbs of boost!

Yeah, and that could be done on race gas w/o meth... I do not think the meth would really help make any more power unless running higher than 25psi or the intake charge is really hot after the unknown IC?

+1 to 3" exhaust, or an open downpipe

    Re: HP Predictions....

A ported exhaust manifold and a ported 2.5 inch swingvalve with a 3" exhaust would get you up to 275 i bet

As the boost goes up, the restrictions take over, so you don't make as much per lb of boost than a better setup, plus the stock turbo is getting out of its efficiency range.

Yeah, but Gary is the master, , lol.

I made 239 whp with my van, TIII turbo, own slightly ported head, one piece, ported ex mani, 2.5 dp, 3 inch back from that, full exhaust and tiny ic, stock cal, 29 psi.

I'll take the under and go 167HP. It seems like every one of these threads ends horribly for the OP. Something always breaks before they even make it to the dyno most times.

    Re: HP Predictions....

Theres a big difference in hp going from a 2.5" downpipe to a 3", especielly with a well ported manifold, the ones ive seen the vendors selling dont even come close to the manifolds ive ported, I take the opening from where the three cylinders collect and grind the everliving crap out of it screw the port entraces thats just for sho and 0 gain really since the exhaust port is already smaller than the mani, i dont hardly even mess with cyl 4 too much since its already much better than the other three, but i believe this is part of the key to getting the better power #'s, withouot this work done properly then i would agree 250 hp would be about it

    Re: HP Predictions....

The intercooler is indeed an egay special. Core dimensions are 27 x 11.75 x 3.

I'm hoping I don't break things as a few think will happen here, but i'm no stranger to high hp engines, the more power you make, the more expensive the breaks.

If 25 psi is too much for the stock t3 then i'll turn it down to 20 or whatever seems to work best. Down the road i'll upgrade to a hybrid turbo.

I'm hoping by going with forged pistons and tii rods i'll be able to play around without breaking the rotating assembly. Of course the tune will have to be spot on, or error on the safe side and sacrafice power.

I'm gonna start low with the boost, learn my way around tuning on these dinosaur ecm's and go from there....

    Re: HP Predictions....

You dont need a lot of boost to go fast if everything else has been optimized, 25 pds of boost will need race gas no matter what, my daytona shelby went 12.6 @112 with 18 psi and 94 octane, the main upgrades were bowl ported swirl head WELL ported exhaust manifold and 3" downpipe and a killer intercooler and the .63 turbine housing is a big piece too as it makes a huge difference in the efficiency area even gained 2+ mpg gas milage with no other changes since it helps keep the turbo from going into boost unnecessarily and frees up some exhaust back pressure.
