All this windshield talk makes me wonder if my windshield I had to have shipped for my GLHS last year would have been covered? I have collectors insurance on it. Probably too late now.

Thanks everyone. I just hope I can keep it in good shape until SDAC. :$

Trying something, not sure how it will work out, but I think it will look alright. This is just a quick mock up, but if you can't find these things in good shape, might as well go with it. I decided to remove the broken pieces, trim them down with a dremmel and took some screen mesh to see what it would look like. Some black speaker cover would look great, glued to the back. Should turn out ok.

It looks way better than the broken grills do.

Also, that car we saw was a Saab Aero Coupe.

While we were both wrong, you were closest so you win. Enjoy your home cooked meal, I'm jealous.

I found some door panels that have no speaker provisions.....then just cut the backing and the speakers play through the outer carpet like cover. Stealth am jam.

You know, I really wish I had some awesome updates, like new motor that will get the car down the 1/4 mile in the 12's or got the wheels finally and got the brakes installed....wait, I did get the wheels. Yes, finally arrived and they look AWESOME! Just got to get the conversion done, plan to do that next weekend. Here are some pics of what they will look like when they're on the car. Wish I could just mount them up. :$

Other updates, the motor kinda had an issue and kinda blew up #2 the other day. Not exactly sure what happened, but regardless it was catastrophic. Spent the weekend (last weekend) pulling the motor and replacing everything back to the stock GLHS parts. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, but crossing a bridge in 1st gear, I started to get on it and BOOM! Car wouldn't do anything. Came to a halt and called AAA to tow me like 6 miles from my house. Last tow too.

Here are some pictures of the engine or what was left of it.

Those are some big wheels and tires. They'll be on for the cheese festival right?

Yeah, 17x8 with 225/35s The overall diameter is like .1" larger than stock, but the +35mm offset should push the wheels out enough so they won't rub the struts or the transmission.

Yeah serious carnage there. Were you able to determine what started the chain of events? Rod bolt maybe?

    Those RPF1's are badazz!!

I'm really interested to find out what caused it too. John can clarify, but it looks like the rod is still where it should be and the piston just disintegrated.

    Re: GLHS 937 Restoration Project

It appears as though just the wrist pin is in place and the big end broke off. Not saying the piston didn't kick off the party.

    Re: GLHS 937 Restoration Project

Well kinda Brian. The rod cap wasn't attached on one side, so it's possible that the nut on one of the studs came loose. However, that begs the question, why did the nut come loose? I've been fighting spark knock on this car for a long time and just recently when I got the wideband hooked up were Cordes and I able to see it was not getting enough fuel. We corrected that, but maybe the wear had already started and it was just a matter of time before it wore down. I think it will be speculation from this point as to what the main culprit was, but it went BOOM when it happened!
