1968 Fury: What do you think?

I've been kinda looking for a late 60's/early 70's Mopar here lately that I can just drive and don't have to work on.

I talked to this guy the other day.
    http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/1709520529.html

He claims it has never been restored, but has been repainted at some point. He says it is all original, in very nice condition, and the only thing it needs is a carpet. As you can see, he is looking for a Cummins powered dually and I have one. What do you think this car is really worth?

It's kind of a waste to have a dually that gets used once or twice per month with the hardest work being taking the garbage off. I sold the enclosed trailer and don't have any plans to hit the track. The motor has been out of the Shelby Charger for over two years and I just don't have the desire to haul it anywhere for race or show.

My GLHS hasn't been running will be 3 years in August. I really can't say when it will run again!

I don't think the mileage will be any better than the truck? I had a 64 318 auto. Are you going to drive it in the winter?

I just haven't been into cars much since Sarah was born in March 2008. I am thinking about selling the GLHS and getting rid of a bunch of junk parts I don't need.

With a car like this, I ain't worried about fuel mileage? I probably would not drive it much in the winter. I may not drive it much in the summer if it gets too hot. I'm just trying to decide what the car is really worth. If it was a B or E body, it would be worth a ton more. Everybody overlooks the cool looking C body cars.

I was going to ask $10,500 for the truck if I decided to sell it outright. If I can't find a really cool old Mopar to swap it for, then I'll most likely keep it. It does come in handy every once in a while.

    Here's the truck:

nice car but the price seams high unless its mint, C-bodies don't bring any money, you should be able to score a C-body convertible for under 8k, I know, I have one and they are really under valued, I love mine.

His truck is a diesel, im sure it gets double the fuel mileage the car gets.

If it's a #'s 383 4-bbl car in near perfect condition 12k would be absolute top dollar . Car does look cool , I dig the color scheme .....if only it was a 4-speed !!

That is a sweet looking Fury! No idea on the value though. I know someone who got a '66 Satalite for around that. (440 4 spd car not original).

Re: 1968 Fury: What do you think?

I figure I'll drive and take a hard look at the car and let him do the same with my truck. If the car is as nice as he says and the pictures suggest, I'll offer him a straight up trade. If he doesn't bite, I'll walk away. Evidently, he hasn't had too many offers and he told me that he needs a truck pretty bad. So, you never know. I may end up with the car.

I'm sure I'll miss the truck at times. It has come in handy quite often. I do have my wife's 2004 Durango. I could get a tow dolly. Lowering the SS/T has made it useless as a truck.

I've really gotten to where A and C body Mopars really do it for me lately. They are as stylish as B and E bodies without the hefty price. The 1968 round side markers have always done something for me for reasons I can't explain.

My dads got a 1966 Fury III with the 383 Commando in it. Its sweet to ride in and rides really smooth. We took a video of it doing a burnout. Here it is

Re: 1968 Fury: What do you think?

    A couple of thoughts.

I sold my Shelby Dakota in 2004 to get my SRT-4. I was thinking with the utility trailer I had I'd be ok without a truck. I went two years before I bought another truck. You may find the same thing, a truck is really handy to have around. While the utility trailer worked and I still have it and use it, it's a lot easier to jump in a truck and go.

Secondly, while I think C bodies are cool, if you get it and decide to get rid of it at some point, keep in mind they are a tough sell. C bodies just aren't in high demand.
