    cleaning a Holset.

    anyone have any luck cleaning on of these. got mine today and its that brownish color. dunno if its oil burnt onto it or if thats just how they came. i'll try whatever, but if nothing happens i'll have to just have it sandblasted and powder coated.

    Are you referring to the compressor housing? Polish it if it's ugly.

    Yes sir. The 46 trim gave out two weeks ago, time to replace it.

    Boost Geek, how long did that take you?

    I used a wire brush and it didn't take long (on die grinder)...it will get ugly again fast.

    whoa. what about getting the snap ring off, its huge and these craftsman snap ring pliers i got are garbage basicly

    Buy some Chinese channel locks and drill holes in the end (on the side of the jaws) and insert metal dowels or roll pins, and now you have adjustable snap-ring pliers.

    cut two pins out of an unwanted screw driver and welded it to some pliers. worked

    glass bead blasting would clean it up the best.
