    Difference in front mount brackets?

When trying to install my new 2.5 CB engine into my Daytona, I ran into the issue of the front motor mount bracket bolts not lining up. When I took a closer look, I noticed the flange on the old engine is milled down and not on the new engine. Is there a different type of bracket I need then? I thought they were all the same for the CB.

Wow, what years are the blocks? I have not seen a 2.2L or 2.5L with that ear faced like that.

Never seen that before, sure your old block was a CB?

All 3 of mine are like that. I believe the difference is due to the front motor mount and how it changed from 89-90 model years.

    Edit for pictures.

Re: Difference in front mount brackets?

I'm almost 100% sure it is CB, it is also the one that came with the car but I don't know if it's original. I do remember a while back buying a motor mount from Napa and it was way to small to fit in my brackets if that means anything, so I had them check and they had a bigger one but I don't remember what year it was from. So is there a different bracket I need that attaches to the engine? I was also thinking of just cutting the whole into a longer slot so it'll match up with the block.

Sounds like someone swapped blocks on you.

CB is simple, is there a fuel pump block-off plate on the front ?

90+ had a larger front mount.

No block off plate on the new engine, old engine like I said I'm pretty sure it doesn't either. I'll check when I get home. I'm confused though, why is new engine a CB yet the larger mount style bracket won't bolt to it

    Probably a late 88 or 89 CB.

    Make it fit

this is kind of unnerving though, I'm putting an 89 engine into my 85 car later in the week.
Pete Faggella 03 PT Cruiser, 2.4L N/A 5 speed. Daily driver. All stock with baby moon wheels. 85 LeBaron 2.2TBI auto. Hoped I'd see a difference with bumped compression, but I didn't. Still slow. What a Ride!'"

Well, fixed the problem in about 20 minutes with a dremel, I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner haha.... Fits great now!

You are exactly right. I should have typed that in my post. If I'm not mistaken my car was built early in the year.
