    L-body rear shocks....on a budget?

The car is my 85 GLH. The problem is way to soft rear shocks. When I first got the car running all four corners were shot. Being on a budget and not looking to make a corner carving super car I went with some cheap monroe struts and shocks on close out from rock auto ($20 ea for struts $12 ea for shocks). I am very happy with the struts. The ride is great but still stiff. Now the rears just suck. I can't even take off fast without my rear tires rubbing (stock size on stock rims). With my budget and build in mind (cheap and just functional) what can I get? KYB? I am up for suggestions because new tires are next and I don't want to cut them up on the fenders.

I have KYB GR2s on my omni and they have been great so far. I'm unsure as to what type of spring is back there, but it is very stiff. The spring perches are installed upside down which causes the back to ride higher. I don't know if that effects the ride or not.

KYB GR2s are just a basic stock replacement.

I have them on my wife's G20 and they are pretty soft and need to be replaced again. I never really liked them. Next time I will spend more.

I don't think they are any better than parts store replacements.

James, try installing the perches up side down and see if that works with the rubbing, for now. Later, you can get some newer springs. I don't think the shocks will help out the squating issue.
