I'm not really the guy to ask. I have 400 in/lb on the front now, but gonna try 250 in/lb this summer on a suggestion from Slowe.

So I hope this is the fix. It has to be an improvement over splash oiling. I drilled two .031 holes 180 degrees apart from the gear root to the center of the gear shaft, then gun drilled from the shaft end to intersect with the the gear holes, then drilled a feed hole thru the brg. journal and plugged the end of the shaft.

Let us know how it goes for you!

Koffel's Place used to gun drill the shafts but determined they were too weak for pro-longed racing (info from Hot Rod Magazine Complete 2.2 Review).

Plus, if you gun drill the entire shaft and then do Warren's mod, you'd be replacing all the metal you drilled out with oil. I don't know what the weight difference is there.
    Warren,
I started the machining on some of mine. Can you possibly give some insight in this thread?

I love a man with clean wheel wells......

Was that post welded to the control arm and the bracket inside the well what you used for straps?

I originally built the mounts for shock absorbers to stop tire shake when I ran a manual trans. then I used the mounts for straps.

Never thought of that for cheap performance struts, Just run dead struts and weld in some performance shocks.

A couple of pics of the radiused wheel lip. I moved them forward about 2 inches from the stock location. Had to remove the belt line moulding and cut off about 1.25" and put a new bevel on them, then paint everything.

going to test June 11, if I dont break anything will try to make SDAC.

Wow, talk about impressive. I looked at the pics before your description, and was thinking to myself, "I don't see what he did". That's awesome.

Warren, can you describe the radiusing process? I think I see how you did it, I'm just curious if I'm right. This looks like something I need to do to my car as well, so it interests me quite a bit.

Sure, I unbolted the front belt molding and removed it, mounted the slick for reference, took a piece of masking tape as a guide and starting at the top, above the molding line, applied the tape in a forward sweeping radius increasing in width as I went down to the bottom. This was my cut line.
I just followed this tape line with my air saw, cutting from the bottom up. You end up with a slice of fender lip that I just put inside the newly cut fender. I glued and riveted it in place and did a little touch-up paint. There is one rivet on the bottom, one on the narrow silver stripe, two under the belt molding, and two inside top of lip.
I cut and re-beveled the molding piece with a belt sander, filled the end with bondo and shaped with belt sander, then paint.
If you are very careful you dont even need to paint anything (except for molding). Hope this makes sense, kind of hard to describe.

    Re: Laser XE coming back

have you thought of using titanium hardware? I know it can easily save 20-30 lbs on a sprint car. Also, like the removal of the end of the axle stubs, every little bit counts.
