    Re: Laser XE coming back

I spent the last few hours reading this thread top to bottom and let me tell you, this has been one of the best threads I have ever read. Just the sheer amount of experience being thrown around here with Warren, Shadow, Reaper, and some of the others, its like a divine moment in my life. I hope to someday have the funds and gumption to build a car like this. hopefully you gnarly dudes will have my back when I ask all my little questions! I just want to run 12's!

Warren, thank you for sharing your crazy skills with all of us, giving us something to aspire to. You are truly an inspiration and I know I will be thinking about you and your car any time I'm wrenching on my 1st gen Daytona.

    Thanks!

    Frank

I'll be 100% honest. My experience comes mostly from book knowledge, reading, and crunching numbers. I'm JUST now starting to try and truly hone my fabrication skills and get to a decent level. My inspirations ARE Warren, Shadow, DJ, Brian Slowe, Lengel, Pat Culkin, and Mike Stimac. There are a few others, too, but I suck at names. Point being, I appreciate being mentioned and will help in any way I can, but those guys....those are MY heros!!

    Re: Laser XE coming back

You know, I thought my Daytona was pretty nice until I saw a couple pictures of Warren's Laser many years ago then I saw it in person in Topeka and got to meet a great man and someone who has raised the bar far beyond where I have ever thought of going, and now strive to be. I'm honored to just be included in the same sentence as Warren

Many more to add to the list of names above, YES, we do have a great community

Warren, I sincerely hope you can make it out to SDAC-23 and Monster Mopar Indy the following weekend.

I'm going to keep plugging away, trying to be ready. I've always wanted to run at Indy. Hope to be done, but will be down to the wire. I really got behind waiting for my crank, and finding a good block, but I will not rush it or cut any corners.

Honestly we have the flat out, hands down, best community out there. Nobody else even comes close to the level of ingenuity passed around in here. Hell, look at the stuff Shelgame is doing.

Agreed, other racers at the track are pissed, they have to spend big bucks on piggy backs and standalones, I show them what my STOCK computer can do and they are, WTF?

This is exactly how you've inspired me and why I won't have a running car this year. I sure hope it will make SDAC24 but I've decided not going to rush things any more so who knows. I'm still young and have lots of time. If I die early then none of it matters anyway. The only way I'll even get remotely close to Laser XE craftsmanship is to slow things down.

Since you guys like pictures, here is another engine I built for a customer in Denver. I know its not turbo related but it is a Mopar. 500cu.in. worth. It was a nice change of pace.

Wow, that looks awesome. For those of us who don't know anything, what kind of HP will that thing make? Will it be street driven or track only?

That is awesome! Question...DIS, but not fuel injected? Some sort of class regulation or something? I know carbs are still very much capable of making great power, ad if tuned correctly can also be alright economy wise (not like economy was a first thought with a 500ci big block), but it just makes sense to me that if you go through the effort of DIS, the EFI should be right there too.

Either way, that thing is beautiful and will make enough power that it'll be hazardous to persons with pacemakers, small children, and women that are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant.

Its fuel injected, but with ITB's,
