How much do you think adding 10lbs to the engine rotating mass (cast crank to forged) will slow the car down?

I'm with Rob, that 10 lbs of rotating mass is gonna make you launch way harder The trigger wheel you built is of course top notch like all your work Warren & I'm pretty sure I've never seen a polished crank pully on a TM

IF you go through the PB a fraction slower because of the heavier recip mass, you may just hook better as a result. Either way, I personaly don't think it will be detrimentally noticable, but interesting BtB all the same!

Completly different recip mass there

Hey Warren, sorry to hear about the snout failure. Good thing it was just the snout, though.
I think it was 5digits that told me he had a CB forged crank break the snout, as well... and there was no trigger wheel as 5D likes to look stock, and clean clocks. hehe
I really hate how small that snout OD is... it's nutz. Especially when you consider having a T-III running off that.
Now, JD has a 6 cylinder (414 I think) snout issue that they have a recall/fix for. I've done a few of them in the past. What you do is drill and tap the threads about another 2" deeper and just about into the #1 main (w/out hitting oil) and they give you a longer bolt. The theory must be that the original bolt threads and point where the bolts is pulling on was in the middle of the snout, adding more stress and causing it to break. Therefore... they drilled/tapped deeper so that torque/stress of the bolt is not in the snout itself. Might be something to think of and try in the future.

Ya Steve, not much meat there, but I have seen 2.2s with full accessories have a ten pound stack of pulleys and crap on there and wonder how they dont break. They are not spinning to 7500 either I guess. (can you imagine how out of balance the factory pulley stack is!)
The bolt does thread just about into the #1 main journal from the factory. A forged crank has to be at least twice as strong in that spot though..............I hope.

BTW: I like how you really polished the entire crank... looks like a callies forged finish now (damn queer emoticans)
Did you knife edge and chamfer your's like the pix of the one I sent you 2 years ago? That motor ended up "blowed up" as the 2nd owner had the cam cap blow out around the track, and he kept his foot into it until there was no more oil left... you can figure out the rest. A dozen cam swaps and the original cam cap...

No not this crank, not enough time. I have another block and crank I'm going to build as my High RPM block. That one will be a "state of the art" block. It will get every trick I know, and some I dont know
I plan on using this engine then as a dyno mule. I want to take this complete engine out of the car when I switch blocks, and put it on Line Automotive's engine dyno.
Have you used any Callies rods and cranks?

Tough break,
Not sure how the crank will affect your times, might be slower to rev but then again, might make your launch's better.

Callies rods are called "Compstar" and they look pretty decent. I *think* they are a lesser line of Callies, which would mean they are still really good.
Callies, we use on our top level motors and they are VERY good. I often thought about contacting them for some custom shafts for these cars, but I'm far from needing one myself.

Cause it has EVERYTHING I need. 82ar hot side, available with internal or external W/G, 725+hp compressor, dual B-bearing, eleven blade billit wheel, and it will just about drop right in without much refabbing. Why, dont you think its big enough?
I have to be able to spool the thing with this head and cam against the convertor without it taking all day. I think that Garrett is up to the task.
I dont think people realize how restricted this combo is with the 50 trim. I now have all the pieces in place for huge power. The last piece is a turbo.
I expect to gain 150+ HP.

Just curious, sheesh.
Everyone seems to think the GT turbo is old hat, Precision is da bomb, blah blah blah, so simply curious why you chose it.
You think you can spool the .82 housing decently?
I think we are all well aware of how choked up your current turbo is, BTW, have to done any pressure tests or if you have, what are you seeing?
