I did it to a block, but I never built the engine. I still have it and all the major components to build the bottom end (crank, rods, pistons). It's an odd combo...2.5 crank welded and offset ground to 3.75" stroke, Lunati H-beam SBC 6" rods, custom JE pistons (8.2:1 compression, 0.020" overbore, 0.927" pin). I was designing it to have a better rod ratio than the 2.5, but more torque than the 2.2. The block is also o-ringed. I had all this done back around 2000/2001 or so. One day I'll put it together because I can't seem to sell the thing!

Those pistons look like Wiseco's FSR piston, pretty cool.

That crank is like sex, damn,

Just going to run 2 bolt main caps?

They did some some magic with your crank, Warren! How much did they remove off the CW's?

Nope, It is getting four bolt billet caps. Planning to fill the block this weekend with Rok Block. Completely revising my coolant flow path also. I will show and explain all that as I go.

No doubt. I really like how Warren is such a nice guy that he'll out humble pretty much anyone in this thread too. I've only met him at one SDAC, but he's just about the nicest guy you could come across.

They removed 4 1/2 lbs. from the crank, and about the same amount from my wallet. I guess if you want to dance, you got to pay the Fidler.

Simon, I doubt my combo will make peak HP above 7600 rpm, but as long as I was building a new block I decided to make it able to go to 8-9000 rpm without chucking a rod. Just for piece of mind, or who knows, someone may want to put a 16V on it some day, but it won't be me.

So you got it down to the weight of a cast crank (that's figuring the crank started life around 42#'s)? If so that's pretty darn good!

How much is 4.5 pounds in dollars....or is it one of those things that you say real fast once, then never repeat again because it'll hurt too much? LOL

I met him at Topeka SDAC, agreed, super nice, so not sure why he's here?

Nice. You don't need to go 16 valves, 16 valves is the easier route, if I had 1/10 your skill and patience, I'd stay 8 valve too.

You don't think the 8v head can flow enough for those rpms, even modified heavily?

Making peak power to 7600rpm is no "small potatoes". Your taliking about a mtr that will rev to 8500rpm easily.

I dont know. On paper, the numbers say not much gain after about 7600, but the only way to find out for sure is at the track, or on a dyno.
I will say that with the old block, new head and cam, the higher rpm I shifted, the better it ran. I was concerned about kicking out one of my 84 factory rods though, so I kept it below 7400.
