Either way, that thing is beautiful and will make enough power that it'll be hazardous to persons with pacemakers, small children, and women that are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant.
Customer insisted on carb so he would not have to tune with computer. I insisted on having NO distributor. It was his money so he got it his way with the carb. The Electromotive DI is run and tuned with a small control module.
Planning to dyno it before delivery, should make about 650HP. It is actually pretty mild as it is strickly for the street.

Nice! Very understandable. Customer is always right! 650 isn't bad...it'll make that, probably more in torque, so it'll be perfect for a street brawler! Big block, baby!!! There's not much like it!!!

Wow, that would be incredible on the street. Dare I ask what kind of gas mileage he'll get?

Very similar to boost. More boost = more fuel. More cubes = more fuel. I've gotten into the low teens on a 440 but that was before nice exhaust and high flow heads.

The smart --- answer is to say, "if you have to ask, you cannot afford it."

NRE built a 750hp 572 BBC with a carb that gets 21mpg in a daily driven '67 Impala with a 6-spd. Just saying...

With the newer technology of the newer carbs, tuned correctly and double overdrive of a 6-speed...that doesn't surprise me.

    Re: Laser XE coming back

Jon Trotter doesn't think that the color in the interior of the engine even matches the car. He's a bit disappointed.

Seriously though, is that paint, or a coating or some proprietary deal? That looks great. What is going on with those AN fittings?

  13. #673

    Re: Laser XE coming back

The coating is electric motor winding varnish (Glyptal) for sealing and oil drain back. AN fittings are for coolant feed between the top surface of block fill and underside of deck back near exhaust ports. Main coolant feed is through the cyl. head soft plug under the timing sprocket through the head end to end.
Will make more sense when I post more pics.
