So here is my question for you....I have a Menegon Cam, Head, GT30 dbb turbo, Built CB with 4 bolt mains and a spearco front mount. So, after my build lets say I keep my Stage 2 computer and my +20 injectors and run 14psi. My goal is to build a trackable car. So I'm going for balance and usable HP.

I'd be happy with 300 hp at the wheels. I feel I could actually drive that car around the track, throw it into corners and not smoke the tires upon exiting (568 with quaife helps also).

What kind of HP numbers do you think I'm looking at?
I thought it would be funny to make my neon have 500hp. Then I could have a plate that said 1 for 5

After seeing threads like this I wonder why I have such a problem cutting up my CSX. At the end of the day, its just a car right?

Looks like it will be quite the performer... Lots of solid parts going into it! I think the key to making it all work like it should will come down to the tune, IMHO. In the mean time, I'll be sitting in the peanut gallery with all the others.

Look what Carroll did to his #001. Hans Herman head, a555 tranny, roll bar and I'm sure many other mods...

Albeit he did just buy a 6k mile all original 86 GLHS to remember what they looked like from the factory but I digrese.

The GLHS was one of the fastest production cars in it's day keeping up with a Ferarri 348GT around the race track...

Should I really be getting passed on the track by a Mazdaspeed 3? Time to mod.

Nice build! I do agree that the GT30 is too big fro what you want. Now if you were aiming for 100 more hp, then you'd be on the right track IMHO. Those with actual experience can say for sure a bit better than I can.

You should take a look at Renaldo's setup. He had a big turbo etc. and he used every bit of it for road racing. IIRC he made over 400HP to the wheels.

    i ran 13.6 @ 107 on 14psi with my 2.2 GT30 G head setup...
im going to say that the car was around 250whp.

your gonna have to turn up the boost some more to break 300whp. and dont worry about the turbo being responsive, just do not let them rev's fall under 4500 and you will have great throttle response

The "real disco potato" is a GT2860RS. Its' really intended for an engine with more head flow and rpm than an 8v combo is capable of, like a 2.0L 16v engine.

Perhaps a GT2871R might be better.

Truck spoiler that Reeves turned me onto. Hopefully I'll be attached a custom made air splitter to it so it will look similar to this one:

Chevy S10 air dam for the 80's early 90's. AFAIK I'm the 1st one to use it on a TD. I have one on my GLHT, ShelbyZ, and New Yorker. My mom's acclaim had one, and a friend had one on his Minivan. I think I turned Terry onto one for his van as well. I suggested it to Reeves when he was having 4th gear traction problems at the track to keep the air out from under the car lifting the front end.

Mike I think you need to update the pic of your turbo in post #1 Or you stole that one out of my garage and I haven't found out yet.
