    Re: Project T/A

Definitely will be following this thread. I am thinking about doing an AAR clone car with ym 70 Cuda, but I would still put the 440-6pk in it just because I already have the motor built and ready to go. Orange and black have always been my favorite color combo, when I repaint mine I really want to go orange!

Car was rust free but the 340-6 was gone it was replaced with 440-6. We tracked down the original motor it was in a duster drag car. Guy wouldnt sell it we tried to trade the 440-6 + $2000 but wouldnt budge. We ended up selling the aar for $8500 to a guy in cincinati, OH

I got a few pics ill try to post them up today
Wow, practically stolen, then sold cheap.. I would have given up all my fwd cars before that. Just cause the aar block wasnt there doesnt mean you couldnt have put a regular 340 (or any engine in it for that matter). The downside to the trans am engines is that complete, they sell for more than you sold your whole car for.

Nice project, that will be awesome. You should go with a R5/P7 engine. That is what will hopefully be going into my dads cuda. With this being a T/A that would make it that much better.

I think that I am going to get some updated rear springs (due to the pitting of the Origional T/A ones) Stock fronts in pretty good shape. Should be more of a straight liner.

beutiful car, a guy in the town i live in had a brown T/A that he painted plum crazy purple. theyre amazingly fast cars.

if i can remember correctly the heads from T/A block wouldnt fit on a normal small block due to differnt head bolt locations because the T/A block is physically differnt from a normal 340. could be wrong though

i thought the T/A had a unique heavier duty block?

    found this on allpar.com:
    • J” casting cylinder heads were unique to the T/A, with unique pushrod holes to allow for oversized porting on the intake runners
    • a unique rocker arm/shaft/pushrod assembly
    • thicker webs in the pan rail and other areas
    • the ability to install 4-bolt mains on 2 3 and 4
