    TIII shift light question

I am looking to put in an adjustable shift light.
I have not bought one yet. they look like a 3 wire hookup and get signal from the coil. on fwdp there is a tiii/srt MSD tach adapter. is this really needed for just a shift light?

    Re: TIII shift light question

if you have enough adjustment in the shift light set point, you could just tap onto one of the coil negative triggers instead of using an adapter to tap into both of them.

your RPM setpoint will be 1/2 of normal RPM. so if you want to shift at 5500rpms, youll set the light to 2250.

or you can tap into the tach signal on the backside of the gauge cluster. you just need the pinout as to which wire it is as i can't remember exactly which wire it is.
