Did you do the trans work yourself? I would like to do the 555/520 hybrid/obx/3.50fd just like you but am a little leary on doing my first trans tear down. I just did a moly plate to mine tonight, man that was easy.

I really figured you'd gain more with the intake but now go with a ported head/cam and you'll be set!

I didnt do the trans myself, I found it used. I did take it apart to make sure everything was in good shape and it was. So far ive only driven a mile home from the shop but i can tell a difference with the 3:50 final vs the 3:85 final. I think the intake gain was worth while. 12 whp and 10ftlbs is a pretty good gain in a 280 whp vehicle.

    Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T

Well alot has been done to the car but i havent been doing a very good job updating. Ive drived the crap out of the car for the last 2-3 months. New PB at the track with a 1.8 60' and a 8.06 1/8th at 87mph. Best MPH is 89.

Last night i installed a home made super 60 turbo. I used an early turbo buick compressor and a stock TII hot side and cartridge. Had it all balanced up and put new seals and bearings in it. At the same time i put a ported 2.5" swing valve and 3" down pipe to side exit exhasut with no mufflers/cats. Ive only driven the car home fromt he shop but it feel ALOT faster. Seems to spool faster than the stock garrett? Ill drive more and report back.

Done quite a bit of racing on and off the track. Have beat a HEADs, CAM, Header-exhaust, clutch, intake zo6 Vette., hand full of rice, a gaylant vr4 which was pretty damn ballsy, and lost to a 495 HP 03 cobra by 3 car lengths mid 4th!

Im enjoying the car ALOT and am looking forward to SDAC-21!

    Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T

Last night i changed the oil, did a once over on everything and went for a 100 mile break in trip for the new turbo. Performed GREAT! Did several pulls to dial in A/F ratio. This turbo deffinently has more air than the previous, i had to turn base fuel pressure up 4-5lbs. On the interstate i did a 4th gear, 70-120mph pull and the car never felt like it fell off like it did before at 5000 rpm. Im excited to get back down to the dyno to see where the actual power band is!

Battery install looks great! Sorry I didn't get the text until litterally a few minutes ago. Nice to have the weight up front to help a wee bit with traction.

Thanks, I made the tray/box from scratch from a piece of 16 ga. steel. Its hard to tell from the pictures but its mounted by 3 bolts on the bottom. I welded the bolts to the bottom of the tray then welded washers on the bolts to set height. Its not sitting on the frame or inner fender. I think it turned out great!

Well, i ordered cam, springs, guides, seats, rollers, lifters, and i ported the head. It should be back from the machine shop in about 2 weeks! super stoked to see what a 44/37 ported F4 head will do!

    Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T

OK, got the new 44/38, F4, ported head on the car yesterday. i am very pleased with how it turned out. wow is all i can say. will haze the 23in slicks in 3rd gear now. i lost a bit of low end power but may be able to make that up with adjusting the cam. after break in i did a couple pulls and it goes like a freight train to 6K now and just begs for more rpms. im excited to get back to the dyno to see where the peak numbers are now and what they are. Seat of the pants says at least 50WHp more.

By F4 do you mean F4 cam? Or is it a stage 4 head?

Awesome! The F4 cam was the crowning glory so far on my build. Not sure what ppl mean by "streatable" but the Charger on the stock 88 roller would destroy D/R's on the street even down on 18psi. Car only hooked 1/2 3rd and 4th

Since the F4 cam, I not only picked up about 70WHP at the track (and I'm not even at the 38psi boost on the stock cam for a Real comparo)
on my 18-20psi pump gas tune I can now step on it in 2nd and actually get traction till around 5200rpm were I'm reaching peak TQ + HP and then short shift to third before blowing the tires away, traction in 3rd to about 6000rpm then 4th!

To me, that's more streetable than having Zero traction in almost 3 gears. I noticed the slight loss of low end when I first put it in, but I can't tell when driving the car now!

    Re: ForcedFedMopar's 85 GLH-T

im not sure why its not a streetable cam either? i just drove mine 1700 miles on the street with no drivability issues at all. i REALLY need to upgrade my tiny turbo so i can actually put up some decent numbers like the rest of you guys. my .48 exhaust side is KILLING me.
