update; drove the car about 60 miles this weekend doing some drivability tuning. So far im extremely happy. car seems 'lighter" now. She wants to please. Only rolled into it a few times (3psi) and it wants to go. Weather looks promising tomorrow, ill see a little more boost.

That is such a good feeling! But maintain your self control while you check and sort out your tuning.

Thanks guys. Went out tuning again last night. 18psi feels pretty good. spinning the 225/50 et streets at the top of 3rd gear. I cant wait to feel 35psi!

Easy killer! I have a "grudge race" coming up and I know they lurke on here to check my stuff. Not posting will leave them hanging. After may 14th I will post the chart and video, unless I blow it up before then. ....hahahaha

Lol, well a 400 whp Omni is most likely faster than a 600whp one on the street! You should have said "between 250-275whp". Good luck on that race!

I had a "knocking sound" after the dyno, thought for sure I hurt something. Turns out the flywheel bolts backed out and the flywheel was knocking on the crank. So after a quick trans R+R and some red loc tight the noise is gone. Ive been driving it a lot and making small changes to the tune for drivability purposes and everything looks great. Idle is coming around.

The real take home message here is, you went to the dyno and got some numbers, but did not post them...

like I said, I would reveal them. it made 425hp and 400ftlbs.

My race however did not go well. my steering column bearing failed on my last run resulting in lose of steering control and I tagged the wall. have some paint work to do now....

Another year, another update. Raced the car all year. Did well. Won one event and made some personal best runs. Trapped 100 in the 1/8 and 130 in the 1/4 last year. before the last race of the season I was out testing and managed to pitch/break a rocker arm, which resulted in a bent valve. My race was the next weekend so I hadn't choice but to run it. I went to the quarter finals where my header cracked and I lost the ability to make boost! (And she was smoking pretty good) but still managed the win. Then in the semi finals it was a give me for the other guy as i couldn't build boost. Drove it on the trailer, drug it home and parked it. Next time I touched it was tearing it apart about a month ago. So.....

This year I will be coming out with a completely new combo. New bottoms end with eagle rods and weisco pistons, arp everything, things cleaned and ported as usual. Head is remaining the same big valve head I've been running for years. New custom tubular header with new precision turbo. Externally gated. And for the big upgrade....an auto trans! Currently working on it. Pretty standard. Adding clutches, good bands, turbo action valve body, 5 pinion planetary, obx and spacer, etc. my first race this season is on May 6th. I also bought a chassis dyno which has I should have up and running soon, so I will be able to do lots of back to back testing and research!
