    Where to get strong axles??

So my setup is a 2.5, ported head, big plenum intake, tube header, GT30R, 3" exhaust, R2 cam, big Treadstone I/C.....yadda yadda. I broke an axle before I parked it last year with everything above except the GT30R, R2 cam and the i/c. So I'll be making more power and since I need to replace the axle I wanted to upgrade.

I looked at driveshaft shops page and they only have 1 listing and it's $800 each! Now is that each set and it comes with a left and unequal length right? I don't want Unequal axles though. I just want a left and what I need to replace for now. But $800 for one axle is pretty steep. Anyone making over 350hp using them? Anyone using any other aftermarket axle? No I won't be putting Autostoned axles in the car no matter someone's success with them. I don't like breaking axles and don't want to be changing them all the time.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

That is for a pair at DSS. Why do you want to keep the center carrier?

DSS... They have two stages, L3 is guaranteed to like 400whp... I'm sure they can take more... L5 is what was in Crawfords 1000hp pro car.

Yes, as Kelly said, price is for a set.

Unequal length doesn't seem to add any torque steer in my car, but I think it has a pretty good alignment which plays a big role.

because I have goals for the cars I have. Don't worry alan I'm working on the masi stuff too. I just finished machining the -6 fuel rails for both heads yesterday. Just have to weld the injector bungs to them. I don't know who designed the factory intake but I'd like to shoot them.

The ones I have are Level 2. Took atleast 100 passes in a full weight G body for one to break.

    Story here: http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...188#post581188

I'm still waiting for the trans to be looked at but I suspect the diff was wearing on the shank of the axle.

Just use the newer stockers or the stockers with the large, round inners. I have the latter style, have been in use since 03.

Re: Where to get strong axles??

Thats pretty good for your heavy van but I think it also depends on if its an auto or a stick... hitting it from 5k with a stick on slicks puts a bit of shock into an axle as opposed to being pre-loaded and thus cushioned like an auto launches.

Your right, but there are others running stock axles on R/T's etc, we all can't afford $800 for axles,

Yeah, I'm really not sure yet. It could be that the car is full weight and I launch it hard.

This set has by far lasted me the longest. I have centered the engine as best as possible and the car has a good alignment on it. I have broke atleast 7 drivers side axles. A couple were on the street from wheel hop but the damage was probably done at the track.

All of the stock style axles that broke at the diff broke clean, like a machined cut. This DSS axle broke like a flower, metal went everywhere so I thought it was best to atleast have it disassembled and cleaned.

Autos are much easier on axles than standards!

I hit it over 6. Anything lower and it bogs. Race weight is 3150 and I trapped just under 115 last time out.

GT35R, it bogs slightly going into 2 also but the ext gate helped that a lot. It has a big intake but the head nor the exh manifold are ported.

I'm not complaining about breaking a DSS axle but this car has a history of breaking drivers side axles.
