Wanted: Your wastegate ideas (T3/T4 hybrid/Holset + larger)

I have some clearance issues here guys.

I want to run the internal gate, because the external setup seems like it would just be a pain in the --- without a custom exhaust mani. Plus, the internal gates work good on these cars anyway.

But I have some serious clearance issues, and need some ideas for fabbing up a bracket or getting something to work here.

I am using a stock exhaust manifold that has been fairly heavily ported, and is drilled and tapped for a standard T3 flange. Turbo is a 50 trim hybrid w/ stage 3 hotside in a 0.63 AR housing, with an ATP 3" internally gated swingvalve.

Ideas? Here are some pictures. I tried bending the swingvalve arm around, ended up snapping it to about half as long as before. I am not sure if the turbosunleashed or FWDP Hybrid bracket will work with this setup...

I am confused why your T03 housing does not appear to fit under the intake runner but every other one does

T3 flange on the stock exhaust manifold (redrilled and tapped it, then port matched it to the T3 flange). So I am not using the Chrysler bolt pattern or housing, which is probably part of the issue, running the turbo in the stock location on the T3 flange on a stock mani... But there has to be someone in here that has used the stock mani for their Holset/hybrid.

I might have to make my own bracket, but could use some ideas from other people thats for sure.

Sure can, I was thinking of fabricating my own bracket and maybe making some adjustments to to the arm (0.5" drop where it meets the intake, and rise 0.5" back up to where the arm on the swingvalve is).

That is one of my ideas I was thinking anyway, but I'm still open to whatever anyone can offer

Is that an on-center housing? Looks pretty close to the mtr for a tangential.

If you can weld then spend the 5-6 hours on making your own manifold. You probally spend more time modifying the stock stuff to work and then you still have stock parts.

I was confused for a moment there. I thought you were running a holset. You need to put a wedges spacer or something to move the pivot of the turbo and the arm will be accessible. I wouldnt go running any crazy long bent arm because it could bend around and boost would flucuate like crazy. Here is the manifold I built, you can tell the flange is placed a bit differently.

Or do a L shape rod for the swingvalve rod end.

Not too much to do there tho... the turbine housing is bolted to the exhaust maifold so the WG lever position will not change WRT the intake manifold and the CHRA wants to be straight up and down for optimum drainge anyways.

    I thought I was close.

My w.g. canister is of a Toyota CT26 turbo, just happened to have one laying around.

I wonder if you mounted your studs too high up the manifold.

There is a picture of the manifold, mine looks the same as yours boost geek.

I think I know what you mean here. Do you have any pictures?

I won't get the chance to work on it until next week anyway, working overtime.

The housing is definitely a tangential housing, like I said, its the fact that it is a 0.63 AR that is the T3 flange bolted to a "stock" manifold, as well as a "stock" T2 intake that I don't have the clearance.

Clocking the turbo won't change the location of the swingvalve, it would just change the location of the compressor housing/center section.

That is an interesting setup, I am just concerned if it will clear the power steering pump and the firewall with this turbo...

Have you personally set one up like that? Any issues?
