Which turbo for my TIII project??

Alright this is pretty much your typical *Which turbo for my car?* question..

I'm new to TIII cars and never really paid too much attention when these threads pop up, now I'm kicking myself.... I'm looking for a turbo thats capable for 300-350HP BUT, I also want a turbo that sounds like a freaking harrier (LOUD spooling like some powerstrokes).. I am putting a TIII setup in a K-car and want to be capable of beating a majority of the cars on the street and I want to freak everyone out with a hellaciously loud spooling turbo..
Right now, I am running a stock turbo with a cat only.. Its, *O-K*, not laggy but too quiet.

What should I look at? Hybrid? Holset HY-35 or HX-35? other??

    Thanks
    Bryan

Stock turbo should be good for about 300 chp. But this is a good question, I am wondering the same thing. I don't want to do the standard hybrid that everyones else is doing. I am interested to see what people have to say.

The common and popular one is the T3/T4, 50 trim comp, stage III and .63 housing. If you want psycho, get one of the DBB Garretts,

A holset sounds nice when you take the silencer ring out of it. Would be good for over 350 though... Where are the hybrid guys running holsets when you need there input...

    Is lag an issue?

Hy-35 would be less laggy than the HX-35 on the stock manifold.

    Who cares?

#1) Not very many people on the street have a Spirit R/T, or a T-III transplant, nevermind a T-III w/a turbo capable of easily generating the 350 whp you desire. (400-420 whp max potential on a stock T-III proven by mopar2ya and Larry.)

#2) Nobody will notice it anyways, as it's in the back vs a Mitsu or Honda, so it could be a VNT and nobody would doubt it.

    #3) They are fairly cheap!

So...why have a 600whp potential turbo when a T3/T4 can generate the 300-350 whp you are desiring and still be efficient at that level? I'd say look for a different turbo if shooting for 400+whp like what Larry used (Precision Turbo)

I'll be upgrading the turbocharger on my Spirit R/T....someday. If I had lots of money, I'd get something like a GT3076R, but I'll probably settle for a T3/T04E Super 50 with a stage II wheel and .63 A/R housing since the price is right. Either way, a custom swingvalve (wastegate) and downpipe will need to be fabbed.

Nah, you buy a Universal Ford SV and the FM dp, everything bolts up. I have one, apart from the fact the dumbass's only made it 2 1/2 inchs, it works well.

Re: Which turbo for my TIII project??

FM wants too much $ (IMO)...and it's not even 3", which is important to me because I already have a 3" exhaust system on my R/T. I've also 'heard' that it's not really 100% bolt in without having to tweak the existing downpipe.

I plan on going with the ATP "Ultimate Internal Swingvalve", and a custom downpipe with a 3" flex section.
