Thanks for the motivation! Progress on the idle problems tonight, I have some other threads open and am receiving good help with that problem!
Got the idle at a steady 1000 rpm today and am happy with that. I still get an occasional miss and stumble but I think I can sort thay out once I get a scanner hooked up.
3 gallons of fresh gas and a half a can of seafoom does wonders for how it runs, now if I could get this dang scan tool working...
LF brakes started leaking again. Took the wheel back off and found a defective copper washer. Since that was apart I when ahead and removed the cover off the side of the trans and am letting the fluid drain. Looks like it was filled with ATF.
There's lots of threads regarding the best fill for the trans, one thing that is pretty much agreed upon, ATF is NOT the best choice. I'll leave you to come to your own conclusions as to what to put back in there when you change it (I imagine it'd be fine to just top off for now).

Yeah I've done some reading and am just gonna use engine oil for this trans.
Cover off LH side cleaned it up at work today and sprayed it with undercoating as it was very rusty and nasty looking I figured undercoating might hold up better.
I fixed the brake fluid leak at the LF caliper, the cheap copper washers Advance carries are too thin. I then flushed and bled through 4 pints of brake fluid and got nice new clear fluid coming out of every corner. The brakes are done and feel great!
If the undercoat doesn't hold up, you might try POR15, it's kind of an undercoat, but chemically changes the rust. POR stands for "paint over rust". Not supper attractive, but a good choice for rusty under-car parts!

Chip Guard or truck bed coating hold up really well.
Trans cover back on and refilled with 2 qts 5w30. Ais wiring final repairs done.
Ran vacuum line for boost gauge. Also installed new rear hatch lift supports, they lasted for all of 20 seconds... need to email rockauto.
I also found some minor rust on the body where the rear hatch sits, surface rust thankfully.
Passenger door wouldn't open from the outside, took the door panel off and found the plastic clip holding the latch rod to the handle broken. Quick run to advance auto help section got some gm style clips and modified one to work put it all back together.
Yeah, I gotta do that too, on the driver's side... Nothing like lifting up with the expected force to unlatch the door, only to literally "fly off the handle"!
