    Timing Question on Stock 2.2

What should it be set at on a 1988 Sundance with a stock 2.2?

and how do I set base idle? It idles really low, I dont think my tach is reading right, but it feels like it idles around 600-700, so low it vibrates the car(worn motor mount too)

Sorry if this question has been asked, I did a search on this forum and online and never got a straight answer from a reliable source.

    Thanks

Unplug the coolant temp sensor, also unplug the fan so you dont tear off your skin. Then hook up the timing light with the clamp on the #plug. Set to around 10 degrees. Idle is set by the IAC but I think there may be a way to change it manually with a screw...but not too sure.

Your timing will change your idle as well from what I noticed. If your whole car is vibrating check the passenger side motor mount and see if its on upside down. I have a solid bobble strut, and a low idle and I have no vibrations.

For a 2.2L stock timing is 12° BTDC.

    Somethings wrong? On a stock 2.2L T2 I usually run 14° on 93 octane.

Well, running a different cal, and 20+ pounds of boost. I thought I would be able to run more timing too.

Maybe I need to wash out some of that nasty fuel. Ive used maybe 3 gallons in the past year. Gonna fill it up and drive it this weekend.
