    Brother's 88 shelby Z

I figured I'd start a project log for this car. Its a rare black and taupe 1988 shelby z T2 car I picked up a couple of months ago. The car is 100% RUST free. Event the spare tire well is spotless.

The car has a nice 3" mandrel bent exhaust from the downpipe back, a nice custom cold air intake, and a few other things.

Anyways, when I picked the car up a couple of months ago I wasnt really sure what I was going to do with it. It has an oil leak, the vacuum lines are all f*cked up, and the timing is off.

A broken one! The previous owners didnt really know what they were doing it seems. The vacuum lines were all screwed up.. They spray painted the valve cover while it was on the engine! The blow off valve is missing the nipple for the vacuum line to attach to so its just a giant boost leak.. We have a talon BOV thats ready to go on once we get the flange welded on

    Very nice project.
I started driving these cars at 14 and I can say is that you need to keep up the maintenance and refrain from beating on it profusely otherwise it will break, and it will suck.

Well boys I finally have BOOST again! Got the new timing belt and seals on the motor. Re-did the vacuum lines. Got the intercooler hoses and 1G BOV hooked up and decided it was time to crank it over. Car started right up and after setting the timing and base idle the car runs damn good!! Im kind of at a loss whether or not I have the correct computer in the car though :/.. Guess I'll have to figure that out, but it runs too good to not have the correct computer. I'll get some updated pictures up tomorrow!

Ive got a question though.. Is gutting the interior of the car considered ricer? The carpet is shot and the headliner needs to be redone and everything so Ive been thinking about gutting the car

Hmm... You can find carpet and redoing the headliner is much easier than one might think. That interior looked way too nice to gut.

Yess, but I dont have money for carpet and I mean its SHOT... The drivers seat has a tear in the bolster too. Other than that its not tooo bad.. What I want to do is find some junkyard leather seats and swap them in, delete the back seats, either junk or somehow replace the stock carpet for cheap and redo the headliner

Nice Shelby Z there 1984 If you're thinking of gutting for weight, ACC carpet weighs a lot less than the stock stuff (a lot less cuz no rubber backing) and looks original

cars without interiors are not good drivers. unless its for a track only, I would leave it sofa like.

Just sprayed a new valve cover wrinkle black. Gotta wait for it to dry, polish the letters and cure it before I get some pics and throw it on though!

If there are no holes in the carpet, I'd keep it. I struggle to believe your carpet is worse than mine was. Most disgusting stuff I've ever seen. Pulled it out, shampooed it up, scrubbed it down, took it to local car wash and power washed it 3X. Aside from a glue stain (which won't be seen) it looks and smells nearly new!!!
