Hi folks,
Been driving around my sister in law's Neon, I keep forgetting what year it is, 98 or 99. At low RPM under load, like trying to accelerate when it's in 3rd gear (auto) at 25mph say, or go uphill at city speeds, I'm hearing a very light..."t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t" can't hear it much better with the window down.
If it was a bit louder I think I'd probably be able to tell light spark knock from injector noise, from headgasket leak, but as faint as it is at the moment, I'm not having much luck. Could be small manifold or exhaust gasket leak too I guess, or could be some ticky lifters even.
Any special suspects I should check for? What corner/side the HGs tend to go? Find Neons a bit annoying for engine access, so don't know if I'll actually see anything on it when running (Plus it's hard to load the motor by yourself and look under the hood at the same time.)
She had "unexplained" low coolant a couple of times a few months ago in warmer weather. The place she took it to "tightened a hose clamp" and said it was fine. I am not sure if that is moron code for "buggered if we know" or they really did find a connection that was spraying.
Thoughts?
