Re: The Making of the "GLH-R/T"

My odyssey pc680 battery seems to be failing on me. not good cause it really messes with my tune. I think I'm going to upgrade to something a little bigger so I won't have any issues. Id like to stick with odyssey but money is kinda tight right no so, I'm thinking of trying a lm battery. Where are you guys getting yours and what brand/type are you using(drycell?)

    Thanks!

I've had the same lawn tractor battery in the Shadow for about 6 years now. Works great, has lasted a lot longer than I expected and bought it at Home Depot.

Yup, I just run a lawn tractor battery from Tractor Supply. First one lasted at least 4 years, 2nd one I got from a local garage and it lasted 2 years, I now have one from Tractor Supply again.

Another place to look for small 12v batteries is for motorcycle applications. Supercrackerbox has one in his Charger that is meant to be in a Harley and it's worked fine for the last 2 years including several single digit cold starts this past winter. It's roughly 5"x3"x4".

Carroll... first and foremost, seeing your car in person was one of the highlights of my SDAC experience this year. I know alot of the build took place only ~15 miles from my house, but I just never got the chance to get up there to see it. Truly spectactular. Excellent attention to detail. I can't wait to see it closer to 100%.

Second... my PC680... my 2nd one, has crapped out on me as well. Had to use the booster pack all day at the drags. I think I am as well going to bite the bullit a more conventional battery for reliability's sake. I am really disappointed with it.

Lawn tractor FTW! I'm serious! I haven't had any issues except when they start to get really old.

I have been using the odyssey PC925 for 6 years with no issues(knocking on wood). I have heard a few complaints similar to what Mike and Carroll have said.

Thanks Reeves but, I already bought a LG battery from Walmart. Started the car just fine. I want a dry cell though so, I'm gonna pick up one from battery warehouse down the street.

How long have you had it? I'm going to try and trade mine for a new one since it's should still be under warranty. Might have to send it away though.

Thanks a lot Mike! I'm glad everybody liked the car. I'm gonna slow down a bit now but when it's done it will be AMAZING!

It seems like the PC680 doesn't like being depleted and recharged. Once it's gone down, it's like it will never hold a charge for a long time again. I too am disappointed as this is also my second one. The first one had a bad terminal connnector.

Yeah, that battery is a lot more tailored to a car application I think. Plus I have been DD'ing my PC680(lot of starts, cold & hot/radio/headlights/etc). Hopefully I have better luck with a drycell LG battery like others.

Crap, I've been running a tractor battery in the Charger for the last 5 years with similar results as everyone else...it's been great! But this summer it's on it's last legs, so I went ahead and ordered an Odessey PC680 because it sounded so good when Carroll got his. They just called today to tell me it's in, hope I didn't make a huge mistake.

Re: The Making of the "GLH-R/T"

Well Ive had mine...for a little bit now..but i rarely start the car its in. I bought it then the car got rear ended and has been off road since. I actually bought mine because i seen carroll's. Still works fine...but the car sits and the battery goes dead often unless i start it daily...so it sits on the battery charger at times. I got mine from batterymart.com i believe. I'll probably end up getting something else if my odyssey craps out. Maybe a battery tender would help?
