    Thread sealant?

    Hi, what does everyone recommend I use to seal the threads on the studs for my exhaust manifold? I know they go into water jackets in the head and I don't want them to leak.

    Thanks;
    Chad

    Re: Thread sealant?

    I have been using a plumbers puddy stick which I got from my local hardware store for some time now. It is rated for fuel and natural gas so it will hold up to about anything. I seal all my stuff with it as it goes on easily when rubbed perpendicular to the direction of the threads and doesn't make much of a mess.

    the red rtv or copper rtv is better, they are rated for exhaust temps.

    Re: Thread sealant?

    no antisieze is not a sealant. the white sealer is just liquid teflon. I find teflon doesn't handle the heat as well.
