Prefer "pin on" race car parts
Prefer "bolt on" street car parts
MATERIAL: Fiberglass
MATERIAL: Carbon Fiber *(Race weight, not appearance grade)
i would also be interested in finding a place to get all my windows made of lexan. and have the cf or fibre glass with it. anyone else want lexan windows lol
I guess nobody realizes that factory bolt up fiberglass parts aren't going to be much lighter than the steel factory parts.
we can do lexan
remember we are NOT a OEM reproduction shop, we specialize in door slammer drag cars. alot of pieces are not recomended for the street. your right, fender to fender its not going to be much lighter but replace your 3 piece front clip w/ a 1 piece glass OR carbon fiber clip you will shed a bunch of weight....
please DONT NOT FLAME THIS POST!!!!!! im tring to provide a service to the TD community and dont need people badgering this.
i u dont feel that it will provide a lil extra edge then please dont post in here. i will be showing this post to the people who matter at VFN and dont need people putting the company down! they have been doing this longer than alot of people in here have been alive, they know what there doing.
Thank You!
once the mold is made of the piece the buyer will have a choice of Glass or carbon fiber, and as far as lexan i know theres a few site that have templates of windows, so once thats done any window piece can be made
again please read thru the entire post and look at the site please, the let me hear your suggestions.
I really like the idea of CF more than FG.
To me, I view it as stronger and thus will last longer. Is this true?
Any parts I would rather have in CF because of this. ...and it's lighter. If you're going to do it, do it right.
Can a NACA duct be added to a hood?
Maybe this is a topic for another thread?
Ron
I'm exited, even if it is strictly only measuring interest, will you be measuring interest in doors and fenders etc?
No doubt, I noticed they already make 1 piece front ends, is there a plan to make those without the extra 8"?
Not my intention at all, just bringing up a point. If it came across that way then I apologize.
I checked out the site and they appear to do excellent work and again I wasn't putting anybody down. Anybody willing to expand our mediocre at best aftermarket is great in my book.
I know this is for TD's but have they ever thought of making some fiberglass for Dakotas? All we can really get is hoods and some stupid ft bumper airdam combo from AAR.
hey mopar man no worries mate...i just had to make the disclaimer
ill have to check on the dakota thing, i dont think they have evry thing up on the site...
they make the 8" ext just for the fact to make it fit all wheel base, it can be trimmed to factory spec.
100% Ron CF is the way to go!! esp after i saw that 55 chevy trunk lid go out!!!
Well it depends on the part. Also weight isn't also the main concern. On my L-body, I want the 'glass hatch because I'm sure it will weigh a bit less than that heavy factory steel one. But, on my Lebaron, I'm more interested in having a nice-looking bolt-on cowl induction hood, instead of having to buy a scoop, cut my hood, have it installed and blended in nicely, etc.
What's the cost difference going to be between CF and 'glass? I voted bolt-on fiberglass because normally it's a lot cheaper, but if the CF stuff is within $100-150 in price, lighter, and is paintable, I'd probably spring for the CF stuff instead.
once i make the mold there wil be a choice of FG or CF.... all products are made to order... ill see if i can get an idea of price differance kin the 2 matierials...
ive got some ideas for right off the bat, it may not agree w/ some people but i gotta start some where. like i said bare w/ me, its going to take a bit of time, but once the mold is made its forever!!!!
it seems the majority want to see bolt on / pin on cowls style hoods, and bolt on hatches....
im going to work on some renderings and ill hope to post them up by the end of the week....
again thanks for the support TM and to all the guys at SDAC-CL
you guys rock!!!
cf hood and hatch for my glhs would be sick!!!!

Are the doors listed on the site able to fit factory hinges and latches?
i wouldnt mind a CF rear hatch for my mini lol. Hood too. Any chance on that? with lexan in the CF hatch.I will make the rear wiper work myself. I have some CF talent and could do this myself but by the time i do a mold of the original then combine the inside portion to the outside it would be mor than i could just buy it for. And i would want it this way cus i want the middle empty portion for the rear window motor to be able to mount into and speaker holes etc. So yea fully functional rear hatch with a finished CF inside too with just the holes for speakers. wont be using the interior panel.
Is it correct to assume that the carbon fiber "race" parts are going to be significantly cheaper than "appearance" grade carbon fiber products?
