Re: Blue smoke, oil burning.... Cause and effect?
Plugs are spotless, and when I had the head off the pistons were normal nothing oilly. Only things that changed from last year to this year is the head gasket, exhuast and I did an oil change. I don't know what the PO used for oil, so I went with a factory recomended 10w30.

Motor/Trans: 2.2/A413
Swirl/G-head: Swirl
Cat/Cat less: less
Intercooler?: stock
Turbo: Stock
EGR?: No
PCV vented with air filter, plumbed in pre turbo(stock like), other: Stock
Does it smoke on first start up?: No
Does it smoke after idling?: Yes, if warmed up
Does it smoke when coming to a stop?: Yes
Does it smoke on the decel?: Yes
Does it smoke when you are cruising?: No
Does it smoke when you are WOT?: No
Is there blow by, aka dip stick popping out, leaking at the oil cap?: No dipstick, some oil at cap, smoke vapors very present when cap removed
Is there oil in your air intake tube (if pcv is hooked up)?: Air box yes
Is there oil in your intercooler hoses (more then normal)?: No
Is there oil being burned on your spark plugs?: No
Please explain what your car is/was doing and the cause here:
Initial trouble shooting; Replaced valve stem seal(looked fine anyhow).
Pulled down pipe, no oil on turbine side, or compressor side ( very little to none, play in wheel)
Complession check, 140, 140, 130,140, checked warm/hot
Oil pressure gauge drops to nothing at warm/ hot idle( rises fine with rpms) checked with mech gauge read 5 psi.
Switched pvc valve with new.
Installed a small catch can (air compressor filter) in pcv line to air box. Some oil but not the cause in my opinion.
No answer to problem yet, will update. Next plans are. replace oil pump, ball hone cylinders.
Realitive factors, I just honed and reringed engine(used bar hone, some state could be cause) cylinder head used not previously ran by me. Car did not smoke before.
Greg
Did rehone with a ball hone, new compression 140, 140, 135, 145, swapped in another oil pump and 10w40 oil. still same issues. next turbo swap.

Please explain what your car is/was doing and the cause here: started with a puff of smoke on accel during first few minutes of warm-up. Shortly after dumped a large puff of smoke on startup and left a huge smokescreen for 1/2 mile down the road. as temps came up the smoke stopped.
compression 130-145 cold across all cylinders. Leakdown at 5-10% cold on 2-3-4, leakdown 25% on cyl 1, put oil in cylinder and went down to 18%. leaking into exhaust.
suspect cyl 1 exhaust valve seat issue, valve stem seals, and turbo. upon inspection rebuilt turbo with 15k has excessive shaft play (not yet contacting housing). Am pulling the top end now, will update.
update: I didnt see any oil in the intercooler hoses between the cooler and the throttle body, but there was a pool just downstream of the turbo in a low spot and a ton (3/4 quart) in the intercooler.
