    79 RWD 2.5 Colt

Look what showed up in my garage this morning. This is a 79 Dodge Colt that I sold a couple years ago during a hard time. The owner had a thread going on turbododge, and ran into some tough times himself, so I got it back, I sold my white caravan and my drag car 68 Dart to make room for it. He has put alot of time and fabrication into it, and I am anxious to finish it up. I t will have a 8v 2.5 and a 904 torqueflite to get it going, Im sure it will change after it is running and enjoyed for a while. I want to drive this car everyday like I did for years, but I want it to run as good as my Caravan, dont think I will have any problems reaching that goal for now.I took a couple quick pictures for now, while take a bunch of better ones later and post up.

The motor is empty, just for mock up, I am gonna take the adapter and try to get a quote on having some copies made, and then offer them on here. It needs wirnig, so will probably try to use a van harness for now.

I am gonna try KennedyEngineering , a buddy sent an SRT4 motor to them and they made the adapter to a VW transaxle, and now offer it for sale of thier site, so maybe they will do it for this, and atleast people that want them could get purchase it from them.

They should make them based off of the /6 bellhousing. Those things get thrown away all the time and the bolt pattern is the only thing that keeps them from being used. The internals should interchange between the V-8 and /6 models. Some how I would up with 3 /6 904's. Either way cool project. I've been keeping an eye out for a 72 model myself.

Isn't there already a bellhousing from a 2.5 dakota that will work for what you want to do?

Not for an auto. Its been said there were 3 or 4 904's built for the early 2.5's but they were test transmissions and that a 2.5 auto in a Dakota was a dog.

I do have the baby 904 auto out of the car, I was lookin at it last night, should be able to use it for a conversion pretty easy. I do have a nice polished valve cover and headman header for the 1.6 that came out of the car if anyone knows of anybody interested.

Hmm, looks like a fun one. Id like to do something similar with an early 60's dart/lancer.

So the white van is gone.. is the brown van yours? Any more pics/info on it?

Wow, I just said that the other day, I got a weird look from the guy I said it to, but I think it would be waaaayyy cool!

It is a long story, It was rapidtransits van, he thought he got over it when the tranny started acting up, and I got it cuz mine was apart for an engine freshin up, then he wanted a van again so he got my white van. The brown one has an 89 daytona Garrett on it, a two piece intake and a Daytona intercooler on it, I put a rmvb in it and have been runnin the sh!t out of it for months. He is working on the other van now.
