    2004 vs 2005 SRT-4

What is the differences between the two?
Is the reliability the same on either?

The build configuration between the two is virtually identical.

Technically the 2005 is more reliable only because it's newer

Main differences between the two model years.

Identical, save for the battery temp sensor, some color changes, and in 05 you could optionally get the commemorative edition package, or the ACR package.

05 had some internal trans improvements, which made for better shift quality, but seemingly more reliability problems. If you go to buy certain parts for your 03-04, everything supercedes to those new part numbers (and you have to buy other parts to work in conjunction on a few assemblies)

I am not sure if the 03 trans will work with the new sycro stuff.

04 is the best year....05 has some changes in the pcm that don't allow the ability to remove the vacuum lines to control boost yourself and clean up the bay.

Then again...I love my 03 with 04 trans

Also....the LSD stuff from the newer trans' will work in the 03

Not entirely true on the warrenty. Not all 2004's had the 7/70 standard. I think they made it standard some time mid 2004.

In 2005 you had the option to buy the extened warrenty for about and extra $1500-$2000. You could choose from 7/70 or 7/100.

I bought my 2005 ACR in march of 2006 and paid extra for the 7/70.

Really at this point, warrenty differences are nill as they're damn near up due to age and mileage on most cars of these years.

Mine was made in February, but I'm guessing it would depend on the in-service date for the car

At the time I was looking for mine... this is what sold me on the 04... I had a list of 20 05's in the Michigan, Indy, Illinois... Non of the dealers want to work with the price and the warranty was going to cost me. It was a no brainer.... I really wanted the Orange blast though.... I got arrest me red LOL

This is a Yes and No for me.... If someone is to buy my car with less than 15,000 miles on it, they would at least be able to replace a trans for Free if needed. That trans is $2700 list.... Not so cheap eh? I'm not into buying some else's junk so this would be a safety factor and a hugh plus for me

I bought my 04 in March of '05 and I bought the 7/70 extended and they came with standard 7/70 powertrain warranty. I have not 58,950 on the clock and still haven't used my extended warranty once. The last time my car was in the shop for anything was a bad 6-disc changer and that happened just before the 3/36 was up. I was going to see if they can pro-rate my extended warranty as my car is so modded I'll probably never end up needing the use the warranty or they will probably just VOID it.

My 04 was delivered to the dealer in October of 04. I bought it new in May of 05 and it had the 7/70. The warranty made a difference when it came time to sell it last week. It is still good until May of 2012 and it currently has 43K on it. The new owner said the warranty is what really helped him decide to purchase it.
I bought the 04 because the dealer was willing to negotiate on the price and because the 7/70. Once I found out that the 05 only had 3/36 I started looking for an 04.

Did the Srt-4 from 2003 have problems? Was not having the Quaife that big of deal?

I think so...it's awesome. I had an '04 and I too purposely looked for an '04 because it had the quaife and the 7/70. I bought it new in 7/05.

    Re: 2004 vs 2005 SRT-4

i think there was an axle problem that led to the new axles in 2004. and the tps wire were not long enough and would stretch/ break causing erratic idle. both easy fixes if they haven't been done by now.
