WTB: Plug and wiring for 86 Daytona message center

I'm contemplating installing what I believe is a 86 Daytona boost gauge/message center, into my 87 Shelby Z

Physically they appear identical, with the exception of the wire connection on back for the message center. The wiring harness on the 87 Z has a round "female" plug, and the 86 gauge appears to be designed for a flat plug.

Does anyone have a parts car 86 Daytona that they'd be willing to snip the plug from? I'd like to have as much extra wiring as possible so I can splice it all together easily.

87 Shelby Z boost gauge is pictured on top...unknown gauge on bottom.

Why don't you just put the '86 gauge into the '87 message center? It bolts right in as I recall. Otherwise let me look around. I may have this wiring harness on one of my '86 message centers.

Or do this. Unbolt the circuit board from the '87 unit and put it in the '86 one. I'm sitting here looking at both units and the housing is the exact same. No need to splice any wires.

Well for one, I didn't think about it LOL

But I'd like to use the whole unit because I dig the blue checker pattern...I know that sounds lame, but the Z's blue leather interior is da bomb, and this gauge kinda fits in

Use the '86 one. Put the '87 circuit board in the '86. It will work. I'm planning on doing this to my '88 Shelby Z as I too don't like the '87-'89 version without the bars.

Now maybe I'll do mine like I have been meaning to. It will look much better with the older one I think too.

Not yet, I really haven't done much to report...just checked for spark and compression so far. I'll get something up when I have some pics and more of a knowledge on what's going on.
