DOT 5.1 Synthetic,
My gf's car was having problems with the clutch system acting up when it was hot out, pedal would go to the floor, and it was always sponging feeling. Flushed out the crap nissan fluid and put in some DOT 5.1 synthetic and the problem went away. Do not use DOT 5, its silicone based and not compatible.
Do make sure to get Synthetic, with its availability its stupid not to. DOT 5.1 has a 60 degree higher boiling point than DOT 4, Whats that mean? Less brake fade, when braking hard. boiling causes air pockets which lead to loss of pressure.
I will agree. I like the Dot 5.1 synthetics. I put it in my SRT-4 before SDAC 18, after I had trouble with brake fade the last time I was on a road course.
I used SuperBlue that I bought from TireRack.com. The color helps you see when all the old fluid is flushed out. They also make an Amber fluid in the same formulation so you replace the blue.

Cool!! I will use that .. thanks
Don't you have to fully flush the system to use the Synthetic?
For regular brake fluid, I use the EBC racing stuff on my bike, regular fluid would boil and cause massive fading, not this stuff,

I dont think its neccesary to get every last drop out.
Your mixing up Silicone based fluid with Synthetic. When switching to Silicone you DO have to get every drop out. If you use 5.1 which is still glycol based you will be fine. DOT 5 is Silicone based.
When I bled the system I did a gravity bleed. Poored the fluid in until the colored stuff starting comming out the end of the line, Then poured more in and bled it once again. Im pretty sure it got all the old stuff out.
