    Hot Rod Power Tour 2010

I know it's early but if you are going you might want to think
    about places to stay.

Anyone out there thinking about going? I will be doing the Long Haul
    this year.

    Newton, IA
    Springfield, IL
    DuQuoin, IL
    Bowling Green, KY
    Chattanooga, TN
    Birmingham, AL
    Mobile, AL

Will be driving the Red Shelby Z thanks to A.J. (The bottom side is
    still dry A.J.)

I also drove it on the Tour in 2007

Doing the Long Haul with my older brother should
    be a fun trip.

It's something i've always wanted to do, but im not ready for it yet. I think once i get my van or my limo finished it would be a fun trip in one of those.

Have fun with it and take a bunch of pics!

I did the tour in 1998 and it's loads of fun. Was also "long haul" member and went the entire route from Mass. to Florida. The best stop was Big Daddy Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Ocala, FL. They had a Oktoberfest theme. It's loads of fun to do, even if you can only go from one city to the next.

Re: Hot Rod Power Tour 2010

I may go, just depends on work. I have to plan for SDAC which is more important than the Power Tour. My friend has asked me to go like 3 years in a row and it always works out for me to go to SDAC over this, although I would LOVE to go. He is friends with the owner of Spectre so he gets to ride/drive some of the tricked out cars the owner has and builds.

I might pass on SDAC and do the tour this year, always wanted to go and it passed through the Memphis area twice and I went to those stops, If I decide to go I'll hit you up Tony so maybe we can caravan.

    Come on down J.T.

The Tour will only add another 3-5 thousand miles.
I had rather you drive the Daytona. We would probably be
the only 2 Red Shelby Z's on Tour.

I'd love to make it, not sure about extra time off tho with the other events I want to make. ...and the Z would be a blast, but not sure if I want to put that kind of miles on it yet, still breaking it in

I'm guessing my truck will make it tho, Josh took it last year. Hopefully he comes into some money and its his truck this year...

Carlisle was the stop after Fitchburg, MA and after that it was Gaithersburg. A hurricane was beating us up on the way south and the weather wasn't the best for most of the trip.
The memory isn't what it used to be, but that seems to be what I can recall.

Chip Foose did make an attempt at the tour a few years ago with a Hemisfear car. Unfortunately none of his crew could come along as they were busy with another build. 300 miles into the tour he got a flat tire and didn't know how to change it. He called AAA, and they towed to the car to the nearest AAA service center to be fixed. The tire was backordered, so he attempted to rent a Mustang to complete the tour, but all they had were manual trans, and he can't drive stick.

    HA!

On the top of Power Tour, when they made a stop in Gaithersburg, MD one year Pat Culkin and I went and checked it out. It was cool and well worth seeing.

My adventure was 10 years ago and I believe that I spent something like $1,000. At the time my ride was a 1 year old Dodge Neon R/T, so it got great fuel mileage. When you signed up you got food coupons and nearly all of the stops had some sort of vendor that you used the coupon at so that helps with the meals. The tour I went on had a stop in Conyers, GA and it was close enough to where I was living at the time in Warner Robins, GA that I just stayed at my place for the night. If you plan out the stops and stay in cheaper hotels (it's only for one night most of time) you can get away without breaking the bank. Our tour covered something like 1,300 miles, I believe, so you can figure out approx. what you would need for fuel based on where your tour takes you and how many MPG your vehicle gets. If you drive something unusual, I would take a few spare parts too. Our tour had a Chevrolet sponsored support trailer, but they can only do so much to help. It was a blast and fun and worth doing, even if you only do it once.
