    Upper Strut bushing R & R

Has anyone learned a trick, or have some advice on changing one of these in a Daytona? I've done this before, many years ago...but if there's anything I could do, to not mess up the alignment to much, it would be a great help.

Other than remove the whole strut assembly...I'm wondering (without actually looking at the car) if I could compress the spring enough to remove the bushing while the bottom of the strut is still bolted to the hub? Or is that a pipe dream LOL...and I'm gonna have to tear this biotch all the way down?

As far as I know the only way is removing the whole assembley.

yeah, gotta remove the strut assm fromt he car to compress the spring and get the bushing out. If you do not want to do an alignment, you can remove the entire knuckle assm with the strut... as long as the strut is still bolted to the knuckle the camber wont get hosed more than strut bushing stud to strut tower hole tolerance can allow... granted to do this, its more work as you have to remove axles, brakes, etc...

You can also make marks on the bolts and the strut to show where things were set. That's how I did it when i wanted to do it the cheap way

Like Karl said make marks on bolts and strut with chalk or paint. That's what my son did when he changed mine. In reality you should get an alignment done, though.

Maybe I'm missing something but if your go 99% of the way there. Why not change the whole strut while your at it ? or just get the pre-loaded struts and never have to touch that damn spring.

    Re: Upper Strut bushing R & R

a preloaded strut is the way to go if you can afford it. When I take mine apart Ill let the jack down and get the van as level as possible then put a level on the rotor and and get the bubble in between the lines. Last time I did it like that I had it in for an alignment after I put a tie rod on and I asked the tech if he adjusted the camber and he said it was in specs so he didnt touch it
