i always heard it was a problem but it was straightened out
you can use a G head on a original Swirl port engine and ecu no problem.

The swirl pistons are like 14cc and the G head pistons have a 9cc dish (I think, I know it's they're smaller) the reason is the swirl had 6cc less head volume, so if you used the right pistons you wouldn't need any machine work.

Nobody is questioning wether the G head will start and run with a swirl cal and later pistons. But it should be noted that the lower compression and slower burn of the G head will result in somewhat sluggish performance unless changes to the compression and cal are changed.
